“This is a guest house beside the owner's place. The room was clean and spacious and the weather at the end of March was so comfortable that we didn't have to switch on the AC at night. However, it did get very hot in the day so we opened the windows to let the hot air out. Also, a few very cute and friendly cats also live on the property. Loved the place!”

“Stayed at Cabin Kai 4 (Dec 26–30, 2025). Affordable and located in a beautiful, peaceful area with free parking, water, and Wi-Fi (weak). Major concern: No window coverings for the floor-to-ceiling bathtub window or windows above the bed and coffee bar, resulting in serious privacy issues while bathing and sleeping. This was very uncomfortable. Remote location (45 minutes from Hilo); a car is required. No cellphone reception. No nearby restaurants or shops. Towels were not very clean, and……

“This place is such a beautiful oasis. So quiet and peaceful. The grounds are beautiful to walk around (bee hives, flowers, mini garden, some animals) and there is a gorgeous view of the water. “If you like quiet, remote and clean with friendly hosts- this is your place. The bed was super comfortable. The stars can be vividly seen at night and the coqi frogs lull you to sleep. “Pros: I liked the location. There was easy access to Puna, Volcano NP, and Hilo. The owner gave me a 5 minute spiel on the property. Everything was in working order. Cons: I stayed at 4 different VRBO properties during my stay on the Big Island. All property owners except this one provided directions, check in instructions and check out instructions. You won't get that. And the directions are not intuitive at all. So I will do the property owner's job for him and hopefully save you frustration……
