2.5 miles from the end of the road to the cove.  Great hike through a jungle that leads to a beach covered in lava.  The hike then turns into a climb over lava, loose stone and boulders.
The cove is a nesting spot for Green Sea Turtles and passing Humpback Whales.

It did get a bit noisy at times with the close proximity to downtown, but the mynas were the loudest things around. Contactless checkin was smooth and easy. “Located in the center of Hilo 5-15 minutes away from everything, 45 minutes from Kilauea lookout. The building is older and the lower floors are private businesses but you basically only go to the elevator and the coffee shop. The unit was nice, recently renovated everything kitchen to bathroom. The downfall was the A/C in one of the rooms just broke down and a part needed to be ordered but other than that unit was clean, nice, and enjoyable. “入住当天，老板有发邮件给我，但是我也没有看到，告知了房间号等，等我们开到了，打开房门后，确实很惊喜，因为周边没有啥吃的，老板给我们准备了泡面还有自制蛋糕等，都很棒，开车去火山公园大概15分钟，民宿旁边有个熔洞，支付10美元，老板会带你参观下，提供安全帽手电筒及讲解，虽然听不懂，但还是很好奇，熔洞不大，但确实很有意思，老板说熔洞是公众的，但是楼梯及内部的灯饰都是老板自己安装的。房间内的WIFI是没有 密码的，速度也不错哦，还有一个熔岩小景，真是很棒，下次来，还要住这里。嘿嘿”

2.5 miles from the end of the road to the cove.  Great hike through a jungle that leads to a beach covered in lava.  The hike then turns into a climb over lava, loose stone and boulders.
The cove is a nesting spot for Green Sea Turtles and passing Humpback Whales.
