Catamaran Resort and Spa

"Beautiful property all around. The landscaping and design make you feel like you’re insulated from the outside world. Front desk was helpful and valet parking attendants were great. Kids enjoyed the pool, hot tub, and arcade after long days of exploring San Diego and the surrounding towns. It was nice to grab a quick coffee and breakfast item from the cafe and enjoy quietly by the bay each morning. The only complaints about staff/amenities involved the cafe and resort fees. It was frequently out of many items on the menu, and one of the ladies in charge was very rude and dismissive to guests and her coworkers when they inquired about particular items. Other cafe attendants were pleasant and friendly. The $300 extra charge at the end of the stay by the hotel was just too much. Overall, we would stay here again if we return to San Diego. We could walk 2 minutes to Pacific Beach for surfing/dining, and it was close to Sea World and routes to other places we travelled."

"We booked a Family Suite with 2 bedrooms for 6 of us in our family. We were given a room on the ground floor in a building far from everything (registration/lobby, restaurants, swimming pool, golf driving range, spa, shops, parking. That suite has an old & damp odor. The cologne we sprayed were able to mask the odor. We killed 7 spiders on our first night. So my daughter reported it to front desk first thing in the morning. Therefore, we were transferred to an upper level suite in a building close to everything. We enjoyed the rest of our vacation."

"We enjoyed our stay here. We usually have complaints about hotels but I don't think we have a single one. Our kids loved the koi pond and feeding the fish in the mornings. The food was good and staff was friendly. Everything was clean. We enjoyed the cocktail hour. We did order from the restaurant one night and while the food was good, it was $30 for a very tiny portion of meat and some polenta. That was disappointing. The pool and hot tub were great and overall it was a very nice experience."

"Exterior of hotel going thru remodel so messy construction going on. Lobby is a makeshift office in room 113! Staff was friendly and helpful. Location is good. Encinitas is a great area. Motel is right off freeway and short stroll (1/2 mile) to the beach. Shopping center right across the street is convenient too. Room was renovated so pleasantly surprised. Excellent water pressure and showerhead which is an important factor for me. There was a fridge but no microwave which I found a little odd. Walls were fairly thin and we had a first floor room. Loud neighbors above were stomping around at all hours and dropping things on the floor! Also anyone walking by and having a conversation was clearly heard in the room. Also freeway and road at a distance can be heard. So wasn’t a great night sleep. Coffee tea was offered and ‘breakfast’ was available but only granola bars, oatmeal packets, and muffins were out. Price was reasonable and overall a good value."
