"Live music way too loud and wish it was smoke free. Hotel was great. Staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. Wish the sports bar was still open. Not many food choices. Slots are tight. "

"The hostel atmosphere itself was great. It very safe to require a keycard to enter the premises. The rooms were maintained nicely and the layout was clean. I was in town for a conference down the street and got incredibly lucky to be placed in the same room as someone also attending the conference. I think my experience at the hostel was better because of that. I did find two of the female hostel staff to be rude. I had messaged the property Tuesday evening asking if a room would be available for me Wednesday morning. I was informed that it was not guaranteed, so I decided to pay for Tuesday night to ensure a bed was ready for me after a long flight from LA. Apparently my card had bounced, yet I was not informed. When I brought it up to the woman who checked me in Wednesday morning at 9 AM, she was a bit cold and rude, saying I was a no show, insinuating that I should’ve known despite me expressing my experience. That definitely did not start my trip on the right foot. My roommate had a similar experience. Additionally, when the we were rushing out to the conference, we passed by the 2nd floor and got excited about grabbing popcorn. After waiting in line, the woman handing it out on the 2nd floor on Thursday evening refused to provide us with any until we wrote our names on name tags. That was understandable, but the tone did feel dismissive. The male staff during my checkout and baggage storage all day Saturday did redeem the overall hostel staff experience. Huge S/O!"

"I purchased a Lake View Room, when I arrived they said my room was not available yet and moved me to another room. I could see the lake only if I stood behind the T.V. All three windows had no view at all. When I brought it up to staff they said that the room qualified as a Lake View and would not reimburse me or move me to another room. I told them at most this room should be a partial lake view and they wouldn’t listen. It’s a money grab, be careful with this one. Soda and water bottles in the lobby are $8 each and the hotel removed the vending machines on the floors forcing you to go downstairs. There’s way better hotels in Chicago. This one is a microcosm to everything wrong with Chicago."

"We have always loved staying at the Congress over the past few years. This was the first time we were disappointed. We asked for our 2 rooms to be close together but we were on opposite ends of the same floor. Our room was hot and the in unit air conditioner barely worked. Maintenance was sent to help but to no avail. It wasn’t the best experience. "

"I enjoyed my solo trip at this hotel. The location was convenient, as I was able to get there via the "L" train from MDW airport. The room was quaint and comfortable and the amenities were nice. I would stay again. "

"The stay itself was average, but there was an uncomfortable incident during checkout where a guest was yelling and loudly complaining about the checkout time. Security had to be called, and the front desk agent even threatened to involve the police. The situation made the atmosphere feel tense and, honestly, a bit low-class. On top of that, being charged $30 per night for parking felt excessive and disappointing. That added cost, along with the incident at checkout, definitely impacted the overall experience."
