"If driving, be aware that many of the streets next to the hotel are one-ways and that the hotel parking lot fills up quick. There is a paid parking lot directly behind the hotel parking lot, but the hotel did not reimburse me or catch that expense. They did issue a voucher coupon to use at the paid parking kiosk, but it still required payment."

"I wish I never had to leave. I don't remember the last time I felt that relaxed when I was in my own private Onsen. And the shear beauty of the location as well. It was simply serene! The staff put my name on everything, including the menu for dinner. There was also a museum on the first floor teaching the history of onsens. All and all, an absolutely amazing experience!!!"

Japanese Onsen Ryokan KOHAKUEN

Japanese Onsen Ryokan KOHAKUEN

10/10 Excellent
"This inn is in a very convenient location- it’s very central. Easy cab or Uber ride from the station, or easy enoigh to take a bus. 5 minutes from Kenrokuen. Be aware this is a Japanese style inn with shared toilet facilities and a shared Japanese style bathroom. The shower / bath is open each evening but not in the morning. The bathroom door does lock so you do have privacy. The innkeeper and family live on site and are very welcoming and friendly. We were allowed to leave our luggage for a short time after check out. They were also helpful witj specific restaurant recommendations. If you want a genuine Japanese ryokan"
