Shoji Lake Hotel

Shoji Lake Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"Country inn style hotel with amazingly friendly staff The owner was so keen to help and really wanted you to have a good time Great view of Fuji Few restaurants near by and driving distance to the local attractions. Hotel is being renovated so some areas are newer than others but all very clean. Onsen was great particularly out door one."

"Truly a once in a lifetime experience. We were welcomed and had our car valeted, our bags carried to our room and were shown the property. Every single staff member was friendly and so helpful and made sure our stay was fantastic. They also upgraded us to a larger room with a balcony that was closer to the baths which was wonderful. My husband and I have tattoos which are not allowed in the public baths but we had no issue finding times to use the private baths during our stay. The meals were wonderful, thoughtfully served and added to the entire experience. Will reccomend to everyone going to Japan and wants a completely immersive and peaceful experience of a traditional ryokan stay."

Fujinomiya Fujikyu Hotel

Fujinomiya Fujikyu Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"I was assigned to a room that I later found out had been remodeled. It was excellent - clean, modern, fantastic tub and shower room separate from the sink, and separate WC room with bidet toilet with all the bells and whistles. The bed was very comfortable, but was actually larger than it needed to be. Because of the size of the bed (at least a “King” size bed in American sizing) the rest of the main room was cramped. The space to walk around the bed was very tight, but we made it work. Maybe a slightly smaller bed would help make the room feel less cramped. The breakfast was fine - a good selection of items, well prepared. I didn’t use any other features provided by the hotel besides room and breakfast. Overall, I would rate the room a 4.5 out of 5.0 based on cleanliness, comfort, etc. Slightly smaller bed or larger main room would have rated a 5.0"

"For only staying two days, I was very impressed. The staff are great, rooms are larger than most in Japan, Onsen was amazing (had to use skin tape over tattoos to go in), breakfast was good. The only thing I will say is the area in which this hotel resides is a bit questionable during the night, though I never had any issues. Would absolutely stay there again."
