From Tenerife: La Palma Volcano, La Cumbrecita & Old Town
This is not a standard tourist route – it is a journey personally designed by your guide, Basso Lanzone, after years of exploring La Palma and selecting only the most breathtaking, authentic, and meaningful places. Every stop on this itinerary has been chosen with one goal: to make you feel the island’s soul.
We start our adventure at the Port of Los Cristianos, in the south of Tenerife, where we board a fast ferry to La Palma. During the crossing, you can relax on deck, enjoy the fresh ocean breeze, and maybe even spot dolphins or other marine life along the way.
Our first stop is Santa Cruz de La Palma, the charming capital of the island. We’ll walk through its beautifully preserved Old Town, with colorful colonial houses, hand-carved wooden balconies, and cobblestone streets that hide centuries of history. Here, I’ll share with you stories that go beyond the guidebooks – tales of architecture, seafaring traditions, and island life.
From there, we travel to the Mirador de La Cumbrecita in Caldera de Taburiente National Park, one of La Palma’s most stunning viewpoints. You’ll stand surrounded by towering cliffs and lush forests, looking out over an immense volcanic amphitheater – a view so spectacular it feels almost unreal.
Next comes one of the most powerful moments of the day: Tacande, the closest accessible point to the Tajogaite volcano, born during the dramatic 2021 eruption. We’ll drive along the new road built after the eruption, through landscapes forever changed – vast fields of black lava, destroyed roads, and houses buried under tons of rock and ash. Here, you’ll feel the raw force of nature, standing face to face with a volcano that is still shaping the island’s future.
The contrast between life and destruction is unforgettable – lush green slopes meeting deep black scars. From certain viewpoints, you’ll feel as if you’ve stepped onto another planet.
Finally, we stop in El Paso, the beating heart of the Palmeran community, where you’ll have free time to enjoy lunch, a coffee, or simply soak up the local atmosphere. It’s the perfect moment to taste authentic flavors, reflect on the journey, and capture the last memories before returning to the port for our ferry back to Tenerife.
Why this tour is different:
Personally designed by Basso Lanzone, an official guide with deep knowledge of La Palma.
A unique blend of history, nature, and powerful real-life events.
Includes fast ferry from Tenerife, hand-picked stops, and insider stories you won’t hear elsewhere.
Come and discover La Palma through the eyes of someone who has walked its trails, explored its secrets, and chosen only the most extraordinary places to share with you. This is more than a tour – it’s my personal invitation to experience the island at its very best.
