There’s more to Florida than sunshine and ’gators.

Amusement parks, flamingoes, and beaches, are often the first things that come to mind when thinking of Florida. Drag yourself away from your sun lounge, however, and you’ll discover over 300 inspirational museums.

Whether you’re an art lover, a science geek, into motorsports, young or just young at heart, Florida’s museums truly sparkle. St. Petersburg is home to the Dalí Museum, the largest collection of artworks by Salvador Dalí outside of Europe. Also in St. Peterburg is the Museum of Fine Arts, featuring masterpieces by Monet, Cézanne and Renoir and a world-class photography collection.

Those with a passion for science will love the Orlando Science Center and the Miami Museum of Science and Planetarium. The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex will put space cadets of all ages into a spin. Aviation buffs have plenty to keep them occupied with the Florida Air Museum, Kissimmee Air Museum and National Naval Aviation Museum.

Closer to earth, motorsport enthusiasts will get revved up at the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing and the Mount Dora Museum of Speed. Should the kids complain of boredom, WonderWorks and Ripley’s Believe It or Not! odditoriums should get them smiling again.
