What you can expect
Fall head over heels for the Great Barrier Reef and the islands that plunge into the azure waters of the Coral Sea during a 2-day expedition from Airlie Beach. Sail around the Whitsunday Islands, pausing to snorkel at UNESCO-listed dive sites during this once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
Venture aboard the Mandrake—a well-appointed yacht that accommodates intimate groups of up to 14. Get to know the ship and familiarize yourself with her wide gunwales and traditional nautical feeling. Finally, take off, using the sea breeze to propel the vessel beyond the mainland toward the Whitsunday Islands. On your first night, drop anchor at a protected spot among the islands. Watch the sky turn scarlet and feast on mouthwatering offerings like salad with local ingredients, sumptuous meat, and homemade bread.
Dedicate days 2 and 3 to sailing between the local atolls and swimming to new depths to glimpse sections of the Great Barrier Reef. Appreciate uncommon marine life like the dugong—a close relative of the manatee. Before the tour is through, snorkel at popular destinations like Hook Island, Border Island, and Whitehaven Beach. Following your adventures, delight in a moment of respite, stretching out on the Mandrake and drinking in the sun's rejuvenating rays.
