What you can expect
Step into Ahmet’s cozy home studio in Istanbul, where creativity floats on water. Ebru, or Turkish marbling, is a centuries-old art form rooted in the Ottoman tradition — and still practiced today with the same meditative grace.
With Ahmet’s warm guidance, you’ll learn how to draw delicate patterns on water using natural pigments, then transfer your design onto paper with a single, satisfying dip. It's like painting without a brush — where each piece is one of a kind, just like the people around the table.
You’ll sip tea, share stories, and get a taste of Turkish hospitality along with your hands-on lesson.
Ebru is listed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list, and has been used throughout history for sacred texts, poetry, and decoration. Today, it’s found in everything from ceramics to textile design.
So come join us — not just to learn a new craft, but to experience the human side of Istanbul: homemade, heartfelt, and full of color.
