Description

Venture into the Sacred Valley to discover Inca heritage and present-day agricultural communities. Meet local families in this peaceful, verdant setting, learn traditional weaving techniques, and visit the Pisac market to find handmade goods before exploring the mystical ruins of Ollantaytambo.

Your tour begins with a ride from your hotel in Cusco to the village of Awana Kancha, where you visit a small farm that's home to a furry herd of South American camelids Head to a textile showroom, where local artisans demonstrate traditional weaving techniques and make colorful garments before your eyes. Next, stroll through the stalls at the Pisac market, famed for locally made wares like patterned textiles, intricate carvings, and replicas of old Inca artifacts.

After a satisfying buffet lunch at a local restaurant, make your way to Ollantaytambo, an ancient Inca complex of stone terraces, a walled fortress, hilltop storehouses, and a never-completed Sun Temple. Learn how this site functioned as a tambo, a place for traveling delegations to rest mid-journey, as you wander the grounds and listen to your guide explain its fascinating history.

The tour itself was great and the tour guide Ruben did a great job explaining all of the sites. The issues occurred before the tour as multiple people from the agency were contacting me for info, each quoted a different pick up time and I was told that my 2 day pass for the archeological sites was going to be ok for the day and it was not so I was forced to pay another 140 soles for a pass I had already purchased. The tour company needs to become a bit more organized before I would recommend booking a tour with them.

Our guide Carmen was very knowledgeable and cordial. The lunch buffet was excellent with varieties of typical Peruvian platters. Everything was fresh and delicious. Stopping to purchase original alpaca work from the locals is highly recommended since they have the best price in Cusco and great quality of work.
