What you can expect
Experience Switzerland in a unique way as you journey by cogwheel train through picturesque Swiss countryside to Jungfraujoch—the Top of Europe. This full-day excursion allows ample time to explore the many wonders at the top of the mountain including the Sphinx Observatory and the Ice Palace.
A short coach journey brings you to the mountain resort of Grindelwald where you board the cogwheel train for a spectacular ride via Kleine Scheidegg up to Jungfraujoch. Stunning views of the world-famous triple peaks of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau accompany you on the way and the imposing Eiger North Face seems to be within one’s grasp.
Once at the top, use your free time to immerse yourself in the fascinating high-alpine wonderland of ice, snow, and glaciers. Visit the iconic Sphinx Observatory for the best views of the snow-capped peaks, neighboring countries, and Europe’s longest glacier—Aletsch Glacier. Use the Alpine Sensation subway system to experience the past, present, and future visions of Jungfraujoch as you travel from the observatory to the Ice Palace.
Strolling through the ice tunnels of the Ice Palace is an opportunity you don’t want to miss. Located in the heart of the glacier, this palace is filled with ice sculptures created by talented ice artists every year. Grab a bite to eat in the restaurant if you'd like. Then catch your train back down the mountain to return to Interlaken.
