Description

Ready to go back in time and delve into American history. This 2-hour Philadelphia tour gives you a dose of history from a local perspective. See the landmarks that shaped America, visit historic buildings and top off your history tour with a local craft beer.

This tour takes you all the way back to the nation’s founding. Weave your way through Independence National Park, home to many significant sites such as Independence Hall, Congress Hall and Old City Hall. This is also where you’ll find the President's House site, which served as the White House from 1790 to 1800—home to George Washington and John Adams during Philadelphia's tenure as the US capital.

Pause for a photo at the Liberty Bell and then pass by the gravesite of the city’s most renowned inventor, Ben Franklin. You’ll then enter the charming back alleys of Old City with its unique art galleries, trendy cafés and fascinating industrial architecture. Take a break at a local coffee shop before continuing to the Betsy Ross House and then down Elfreth’s Alley, the street famous for being the oldest continuously occupied residential street in the country.

End your epic history tour at a local brewpub, where you can sip a locally brewed beer or enjoy a soft drink with your guide.

We enjoyed our small group tour. Rob was very informative and provided a great historic review of the city and its origins. We love walking tours because you get a much better sense of the city's vibe from the sight and sounds of being at street level. The overview of the historic old city gave us a good idea of which buildings to return to for more details.

Great experience with Mike. He is a Temple grad with a strong focus on History, so he is a local and learned at the same time...very crucial for this kind of tour. He was very enthusiastic and also flexible, especially with the French visitors who I was with (ie language). This tour and this guide are highly recommended. Dr. VJ
