Not quite what we had been led to expectPosted Jul 30, 2012 on Hotels.com
We believed we had booked in the main manor house of the domiane, and indeed all the online promotional material endorsed this impression. We were a little surprised then, to find we were booked into the 16th century farmhouse adjoining the main estate.Having said that the farmhouse iitself was tastefully renovated and the rooms individually designed, retaining some of the Basque character. the decor was quirky French, Service was excellent as was the welcome and attentiveness of the staff. Breakfast was also very good. Beware Oscar, the dog is always hungry! Despite its rural location the farmhouse suffers from road noise as the rural road outside runs to the coast -busy in the tourist season- as well as to camp sites. The farmhouse is run on green lines and there is no air conditioning and some of the guestroom items such as soap, shampoo etc are perhaps not what you would expect of a hotel of this 'class'.

Domaine Bassilour - Well Placed for BiarritzPosted Sep 25, 2011 on Hotels.com
A very well appointed B&B Hotel, just outside of Biarritz, France. Main accommodation building is placed on the corner of a very busy crossroads, for a country lane! Obviously a cut through for locals. That said, the rooms are finished to an excellant standard. The lack of a bar is met with a well equipped minibar facility, that is not overpriced. Breakfast was plentiful, and the croissants and bread nice and fresh. Important to note that you do need to checkout & pay on departure, payment is not automatically taken as you may have been led to believe if you booked on line.
