Pros: Everything. The most memorable thing about El Secreto is each villa and the thought that went into creating such an amazing experience!
Cons: Nothing.
Location: The resort if very secluded, but San Pedro is a 30 minute boat ride away. Blue Water Grill was a favorite restaurant in San Pedro!
From the time that we arrived until the time that we left El Secreto, each detail of our stay was thought of in advance. Upon arrival we were greeted by Ken, Manager of El Secreto with watermelon drinks and refreshing towels after a very long journey. Ken is one of the nicest, professional and accommodating resort managers we have ever met. Upon walking on to the premises to check-in (which is paradise btw), we were given a 5 minute complimentary neck and shoulder massage... We knew then that we were in store for a truly relaxing experience. The staff is beyond attentive, friendly and helpful with any need you may have. The rooms are designed for both romance and pure relaxation. The resort is extremely secluded and quiet but each villa also provides privacy with an enclosed outdoor shower and private hot tub. The restaurant and bar serve up incredible drinks with very helpful staff to answer any questions along the way. Room service is also beautifully delivered for a relaxing dinner in your private villa. Ken, Sherry and Norvani were some of the most helpful people I have ever met while vacationing and ensured that our tour, requests and meals were well in order. The rooms are also amazing with King size Tempur-Pedic beds, controllable mood lighting, etc. If you're giving the opportunity to stay for El Secreto, take it. The only problem is that you may never want to leave!

Excellent design hotel in perfect setting

As close to ideal place for romantic beatiful vacation as you can dream of. Perfect to relax and to enjoy beauty of the Ambergris Caye. Villas at the beach are very nice and with breathtaking view. Service is impeccable, always extremely nice and always ready to guess your needs and assist.

Everything was perfect! Great romantic destination

Our flight into San Pedro arrived early and the staff at El Secreto bought us lunch and drinks in town- even though it wasn't necessary! When Jason picked us up from the airport, he gave us a little tour and information about the town. After a beautiful boat ride to the resort, Ken welcomed us and made us comfortable from the moment we arrived. He offered us a free room upgrade for our wait (wow!). We had such a relaxing and fun vacation at El Secreto. It is a hidden paradise. Every single staff member was friendly, helpful and courteous. There was only one disappointing thing at El Secreto: we had to leave.

Magnificent Stay

We had a wonderful stay. The rooms are great and the place is absolutely beautiful. The resort set up an amazing dinner on the beach to celebrate my wife's birthday that was one of the highlights of the stay. They also had a sailboat we used to sail up and down the beach to visit a couple of other resorts which was a ton of fun. The only downside of the resort is it is about 10 miles from San Pedro so getting down to San Pedro is totally doable, but non-trivial.

Romantic & Secluded

El Secreto is a new, secluded, romantic, luxurious hotel that is a 30 min. boat ride from the San Pedro airport. The villas are beautiful, spacious, and high-tech (everything is controlled via an I-Pod). The infinity pool is lovely as well. The hotel is right on the beach, but beware, although it looks breathtaking, the beach is actually filled with seaweed and rocks, which makes it very difficult to swim in. The service could also improve. Namely, the waiters are quite slow. The food is also overpriced, and given that you are 30 min. from town, you do not have many options.

Amazing little get away

It is a nice place, with private beaches and equipment to do lots of stuff on the ocean. This place has really nice rooms and room service is amazing. Please note there is only one method of transportation to and from the resort, a boat. So you will be Shaffer-ed from the port to the hotel. Prices for food and food quality are good. Portions of meals are good too. Would recommend carrying along a few gronola bars cos they can serve well as mini snacks.

Best place I ever stayed at. Small but really nice. Great service. There is only one dinning room and the food is very good. Scuba diving was outstanding and the dive crew was great. Try the fishing; we had fun. Town is 11 miles away. The only way into the resort is by boat. Your are in the jungle. If you are looking for a place to get away from it all, this is your place.

Wonderful experience!

What a great way to spend a few days away from it all! Amazing group of people running a first class experience for their guests. The venue is visually and tangibly relaxing and comfortable. The staff attentive and friendly. Good food whenever you want it, only challenge was Mosquitos but they have great tricks to beat those pests....Luis the dive master is terrific for diving or snorkeling trips or just stay at the hotel and be well cared for. Loved it!

Dream with your eyes open.

Pros: There was so many wonderful things about the place, but the staff was the cherry on top.
Cons: Commute.
Location: Once you land in Belize there are several ways to get there, but no matter what you choose, it was going to take time. We chose the Ferry Taxi.
My 50th birthday was knocking on the door and I wanted to spend it somewhere memorable. I have traveled in numerous places (Nepal, Australia, Hawaii, Japan, Bali, Bahamas, Paris, Rome, Italy, Guam, Saipan, Philippines, Cancun, etc. - the reason I share my travels is because one cannot know what is fair, bad or excellent if there is nothing to compare it to). I wanted to go somewhere warm and spoil myself. The minute we got off the boat, we received royal treatment. The staff was friendly and very helpful, the place was picture perfect, and the food excellent. However, perfection doesn't come without a price; aside from that - it is further away, therefore, the water taxi does not go pass a certain point so you have to rely on the hotel boat. It is a very romantic, peaceful and beautiful place.
