Charming hotel in the heart of the city
Posted Jan 23, 2013
Pros: Decor and staff, both excellent.
Location: Great location for touring the Burgundy wine chateaus and caves and seeing the small villages in the region including fields and fields of flowers.
The staff was very friendly and helpful and the hotel was charming and comfortable. Would have loved to stay longer.

Fantastic hotel with old world charm
Posted Jan 7, 2013 on Hotels.com
Le Cep is a very nice hotel that is a less than 10 minute taxi ride from the Beaune train station. The rooms are well appointed, albeit with a faint cigarette smell which is unavoidable in this part of the world. The bed was soft and a bit saggy. We went on a couple of wine tours of the area that were alot of fun. Didn't try the breakfast (20 Euros each), so can't speak to that. Overall, very satisfied with this hotel and would recommended it to anyone looking for a romantic hotel for wine tasting.

Elegant hotel, excellent service

We loved the location, the historical feel of the hotel & its surroundings. Make sure you are in Beaune for their Saturday market. The hotel's common area decor was beautiful, typically French & cozy. Elegant but pricey buffet breakfast. Unfortunately we had a streetside room so it was very noisy with traffic. Don't get a "villages" room if you can afford better. The air conditioning had been turned off for the season (we were there in early October) so we had to ask for a fan & strip off the heavy blankets. The shower was scary (very slippery). Miniscule water closet. Staff was professional, courteous and helpful.

The hotel was a very pleasant surprise and the one night stay was not enough. We will return when we next travel through France.

Close to city centre but difficult to find
Posted Jan 9, 2012 on Hotels.com
A romantic Louis XIV feel and decor of Hotel Le Cep. Helpful staff. Fabulous breakfast. But - a supporting beam in the middle-centre of the room which hindered you to get off and around the right side of the queen size bed and was an exceptional annoyance when you wanted to get to the washroom during the night. It was difficult to find the location of the hotel by car, as the street (rue Maufoux) was not recognized by the Garmin GPS navigator in the car. After advice by the central tourist office in Baune, we however eventually found the hotel and had not trouble with parking and offloading-help offered. There is no dining room in the hotel, but there are ample and good restaurants very close by. Located just around the corner from Hotel-Dieu. As an added surprise, the hotel invited its guests to participate in a piano recital by the American pianist Ronnie Kole and a pre-concert champagne reception at the hotel the night we were there. Greatly enjoyed out stay at Le Cep.

Central and luxurious

We greatly enjoyed our stay at Le Cep. The staff were all courteous especially the gentleman who looked after our car in the garage. Reception booked a table for us for dinner in the town, as the restaurant in the hotel was closed on the evening we stayed. Extremely comfortable as one would expect from one of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

Fantastic old charm. The rooms are nice but not over the top but the public areas and garden/ patio area were wonderful.

Well-maintained, great location, needs updating

Good hotel. Clean, good service. The decor is pretty old fashioned, but it is maintained very well. The price is pretty high for the dated quality, but we enjoyed our stay. The location is hard to beat.
