quiet island hotel in nice surrounds

Posted Nov 20, 2014
Pros: location
Cons: front desk staff training--check-in/out slow --would hate to be there in peak season
Location: On an island a few hundred metres from main street of town so easy access to any attractions on mainland and to airport. Snorkelling and water sports
Hotel accom in bures is dated and could do with some basic maintenance but overall was comfortable and clean. Staff were very accommodating with any requests but things move at island speed. Food expensive as elsewhere and just ok. Island boat transfers to town were excellent and very handy available 24/7 at no cost.

Great island holiday

Posted Oct 30, 2014
Cons: The resort is in need of a bit of repairs and upkeep. A lot of the paths on the island are rocky and uneven.
Location: Only 3 minutes from the mainland with a complimentary 24 hour ferry. Highlight was a visit to the Cascade Waterfall at Mele Bay.
We recently stayed on Iririki Island and loved it. Our garden view villa was lovely with a nice view from the balcony. Bathroom was probably in need of an update but didn't affect our stay. Our room was cleaned every day. The resort itself was great. Meals in all the restaurants were excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Thought the omelette chef was a great idea! Would definitely go back.

This does not live up to the standard of "resort"

Posted Oct 5, 2014
Pros: the views, the pools
Cons: everything about the fare needs improving. More staff training!!!
Location: the 24/7 transfer to the mainland made it easy to get on and off the Island. The non motorised sports and pools were readily available
Unhappy with the inside condition of the fare we stayed in. Torn curtains, old furniture, table in middle of room barely standing, aircon unit dirty, old and yellowing. Room too too dark insufficient lighting in room, light at front door not working and was hard to find keyhole to get into room at night. Toilet not very sanitary. don't think they washed/scrubbed the shower our whole stay. There was a mouse in the room which woke us up with the rustling and then we saw it escape under our front door. Very, very disappointing. When I complained the next day to the Manager all he said was "I'm sorry" That apology was very, very poor. And he gave me his business card. what good was that gesture? That overshadowed our stay and felt we were not told the truth about the condition of the rooms. On the website, the photos make it look bright and clean and new. They were very far off the mark. The staff was obliging but were unable to understand food orders and often they got it wrong or were unable to answer questions of what the food was.

Great location, view and lovely island feel.

Posted Oct 2, 2014
Pros: The island setting away from the busy town, yet you are close to everything. It looks great, you can easily spent days not leaving Iririki.
Cons: Can't fault them really. Sometimes you have to wait a bit longer for food or drinks but then again you are on holiday and it comes with the culture.
Location: Great island, very tropical with beautiful waters and corals from the beach. Snorkeling, shopping, markets, beaches, waterfalls, kayaking all close.
We stayed for 9 days and it was great. Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere, great buffet breakfast and food in restaurants. The view from our deluxe apartment was awesome as is the snorkeling from the beach at snorkelers cove. The performances at the restaurant where great and the ladies selling their goodies. The staff is so friendly and remember you which is lovely. We where really sad to leave and would have loved to stay a lot longer. Thanks very much for our great holiday.

Island Resort close to town

Posted Oct 2, 2014
Pros: The fact that it was a Tropical Island Resort with nice walks, bush, pool area & beaches. Staff were very friendly & helpful. Great musicians!
Cons: The place is very tired & becoming run down. Many areas could do with a major upgrade. Soft furnishings in public areas need a good clean & revamp.
Location: Handy to town & great free ferry service 24/7
Our greeting at reception was memorable & within a few minutes we'd checked in and were whisked away in a small truck with bags on back to our delightful garden fare overlooking the harbour on the north side of the island. We were close to the Restaurant/cafe/bar which was great. Not so good for our friends who were in a pool side apartment which was a good 10 mins walk away. The food & entertainment ranged from good to great and the views from the decks out over the water were stunning. As were the lights of Port Vila at night!. The ferry (free for guests) to & from Port Vila only took 3 minutes was excellent with professional often humorous staff at the helm. The wharf is located next to Grand Hotel & Casino and only 100 metres from the produce markets & super market makes this place very convenient. We enjoyed the benefits of good air con in our room and having a private deck to use.

Paradise in Vanuatu!

Posted Sep 9, 2014
Pros: When all was done during the day, we could return back to the island and put our feet up on the Deck Relax to discuss the next days options.
Cons: Exchange rate. Just a touch dearer than the aussie dollar.
Location: Restaurants, Blue Lagoon, the waterfalls, appreciate and learn other cultures via Village tour. Or... just relax by the pool.
Our flight was from Melb to Port Villa at “stupid’o’clock” (2:05am arrival) as some have commented on tripadvisor. We booked the transfer from the airport to Iririki and I am glad we did. My eyes nearly popped when I was getting in the wrong side of the van and we were driving on the wrong side of the road. I won’t go into detail of what when thru my head when we approached the 1st roundabout at 2:20am (Tis a lot different than rat race traffic of Melb.). From that moment, we knew that this was going to be the BEST Holiday and suprises everywhere we go. At 2:30 am, our transfer had arrived at the Iririki dock. 2 Security staff and approx. 4 locals underneath a hut roof were in sight standing around. We were wondering what’s going on? We get out of the Transfer vehicle and security come over…. “ Hull-O… Welcome to Vanuatu. Are you staying on Iririki? (Enters the biggest smile) The Ferry is on the other side, it should not be too long”. He looks across the waterway, then back at us with a big smile, takes 2 steps away from us, wolf whistles across the waterway and calls the ferry in Bislama. We look across and couldn’t see anything. Then a yell back from the ferry man in Bislama, echoing across the water. Security and locals give a giggle as he tells us that the ferry won’t be too long at all and he must have fell asleep. This scene of our welcome is PRICELESS! We felt SAFE everywhere. Will go back in a heartbeat!

Excellent location

Best of both worlds - a resort bubble and just a 2 min boat ride into town. Don't miss the 'real pasific' dinner if you get a chance.
