Old, tired Hotel

Posted Feb 20, 2015
The only good thing about this hotel is its location. You are in a perfect spot for the beach at Fort Lauderdale, and the restaurants and night spots. However, the hotel itself is well past its heyday, and needs some serious attention. The walls were cracking, the carpet was very very old, and the bathroom was second grade. The beds, thank goodness, were comfortable, and the staff was helpful.

Hotel should be condemned!

Posted Feb 20, 2015
Pros: Nothing!
Cons: Tear down and rebuild or total rehabbing.
Location: The location was great. It is right across from the beach with a park and playground nearby. Some eating places and a convenience store are nearby.
We had 4 nights booked at the Avalon Waterfront and the only reason we stayed even one night was because it was approx. 10 pm when we got there and we had a small child with us who needed to get to sleep. The room, including the kitchenette and bathroom weren't clean. There was a two burner hot plate on the counter however the pictures we saw on the Avalon's website showed a clean looking kitchenette with a full stove as well as a clean room. The window in the kitchenette was covered with a dirty curtain; when I pulled it aside to make sure there was glass behind it, I saw that the window had duct tape on it. The shower had fungus growing in it . The main room had two doors that led to the rooms next door; we could open the doors and there was a space, then there was a door that led into the rooms next to us. A small table had been placed in front of one of the doors, which would not deter anyone from entering the room. We did not feel safe there. Room # was D-139. Hotel staff weren't very pleasant and the lobby also wasn't clean. We had to end up paying for two nights even though we only stayed one night and checked out before check out time.

Run down and dirty

Posted Feb 13, 2015
The hotel is run down and dirty bit it's across the street from the beach and next to the Hilton. They're tearing it down sometime this year. No wonder

They sell ruined rooms for very high price.

Pros: Location
Cons: Third building requires completely reconstruction.
Location: It is close to ocean.
We were given very terrible room absolutely different from what we booked online. We had to cancel second night and broke our vacation, because there were not any available rooms in near hotels. We came back home instead joy our weekend in Fort Layderdale.
