Nice Hotel ON the Beach

Posted Apr 3, 2014
Pros: On the Beach. Great Restaurant.
Cons: hot water for showers
Location: On the Beach. The town of Fredriksted has lots of great little places to try the local fare. the Rainforest is nearby so visit the Domino Club
Nice Quaint privately owned spot on the beach. The staff are phenomenal!! Sparkle greeted us our first night and made us feel right at home. Irma, Nisha and Kelly were always a pleasure and all so helpful at the front desk. The restaurant is awesome! Love Chef John and his staff !! we took in the sunset every night sitting by the pool over looking the beach area. Excellent snorkeling, swimming beach. Even locals love to come hang out here! We met so many wonderful people. It was pretty quiet thru the week until Sat, Sun when there was a cruise ship in town. We rented a car and got out and about to other beaches and attractions. Would definately recommend and can't wait to go back!

Great value for the price.

Posted Jan 17, 2014
Pros: Price was perfect. Hotel is right on the beach
Cons: The rooms could be updated... but for the price it was perfect
Location: Pretty laid back part of town but away from the strand in Fsted.
Really laid back place to stay. Hotel staff is friendly, rooms are nice (mind you they are not 5 star, but you're not paying for 5 star either) Would recommend.

Great Hotel Staff, No Hot Water 9 days out of 12

Posted Jan 5, 2014
Pros: the view, nice beach, very nice front desk ladies
Cons: no hot water
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, but the hotel itself was not that good. The balcony in the room looks more like a cage, the TV was on the top shelf in the closet, so you could see only half of the screen. But it was not a big deal. THE BIG DEAL: NO HOT WATER in the shower. I went to the frontdesk to find out what was going on, but the lady told me they have solar panels and there was no sun for the last couple of days and in order to get some hot water we need to leave the water running for like 20 minutes - Did Not Help. Even though it was 90F outside everyday and sunny we still had no hot water, not even warm. 9 days out of 12 we did not have hot water and had to take a cold shower. What a Relief to get back home and have hot water 24/7. Other than that everything was good.

Great beach location

Posted Jan 3, 2014
Pros: Staff, beach, snorkeling
Cons: loud music late into the night from neighboring apartment complex
Location: If you like shopping you'll have to go 30 minutes to Christiansted as there is very little to do in Fredericksted except sit on the beach.
Not a bad hotel, just in a bad neighborhood. The beach, staff, beach side grill, and rooms were all great. It's next to a not so good neighborhood and we heard loud music coming from there every night till 3-3:30am. Made it hard to sleep. The beach is the best in St Croix as far as I'm concerned. Being on the west side of the island, it's sheltered from the wind and has some excellent snorkeling close to shore.

No hot water in shower. Internet is unreliable and unavailable in certain rooms. The rooms themselves are spacious and comfortable, but those adjacent to the road and public beach area are unbearably noisy. The beach in front of the hotel is pleasant and the restaurant next door has great food. The Continental breakfast provided by the hotel is unvarying and minimalist. Hotel staff is very nice and accommodating.

Small Quiet Hotel

Posted Sep 5, 2013
Pros: Great Staff. Beautiful Beach. Quiet. Nice Pool.
Cons: Upgrade rooms with new furniture, bedding, towels. Increase water temperature. Luke warm showers. Never hot. Add fruit/meat to breakfast.
Location: Near by there is a deli, some local restaurants, pharmacy etc. Many close early.
This hotel is small. It is pretty and cozy but somewhat out of the way. It has a beautiful quiet beach. The staff (front desk, maintenance, housekeeping, restaurant/bar, security) were always very pleasant and helpful. I would suggest renting a car or using the taxi service that was available. The downtown area is small. There are a few restaurants and stores. Most of the tourist attractions are in Christensted, The rooms could use an upgrade. It provides the basics, but they are in need of a fresh updated look. The restaurant was good. It was closed (2) days a week. They have a continental breakfast which is ok.

My Virgin Islands Accommodations

Posted Aug 26, 2013
Pros: The personnel; how the natural greenery of the island complemented the accommodations.
Cons: Longer hours for the restaurant.
Location: As I was being taken around by someone who lived on the Island, I did not have to worry about this aspect of my stay.
The hospitality at the Sandcastle is THE thing that stands out most to me. There is a quiet ambience that caters to those who are alone and come by themselves and those in a large group. So, neither situation leaves one wanting. I found that no matter where I was in the hotel, whenever I encountered a hotel staff, I was warmly greeted. There were always smiles and willingness to assist if needed. I found St. Croix to be an extremely beautiful island and when I return -- not IF I return, but WHEN -- I will again book my stay at Sandcastle!!!

An unexpected delight

Posted Aug 14, 2013
Pros: It's on a beautiful beach, has great rooms, and has a wonderful resteraunt.
Cons: The continental breakfast. Other places I've been to provide a hot breakfast with bacon, scrambled eggs, and fresh fruit
Location: Christensted, see the historic part of the town. Then, take a trip to Buck Island for a day of sailing, snorkling, eating, and drinking.
We booked this resort sight unseen based on price. What a wonderful surprise! From the moment we arrived and until we left we only had positive experiences. The room was spacious, had a private balcony overlooking the beach, and had louvered windows so we could be comfortable with the ocean breeze and ceiling fan. We were there to help our daughter get settled in to her apartment as she will be attending school there for the next two years. One of our tasks was to get her a reliable used car. The staff helped us locate various dealers so we could make our own decisions. We also needed to find good places to shop for groceries, home goods, etc. and the staff were very helpful. One of the most amazing things was that we got to meet one of the owners. She's very involved in the day to day operation of the resort. You might find her at the front desk, walking the grounds, or setting tables in the restaurant. Wherever you find here talk with her - she wants to make sure you have a delightful time. Talk about wonderful, the restaurant!!! My wife, daughter, and I ate there two different nights and we each ate a different meal. None of us were disappointed and we were all so pleased that we shared bites with one another.

Beautiful beach, good snorkeling at your footstep.

Posted Jul 13, 2013
Pros: Very peaceful and quiet.
Cons: Lighter lunch menu. Maybe having kayaks or paddle boards available on location?
Location: West end is very quiet and more remote. Rainbow beach, Walk the Labyrinth, north shore, island bingo, Jacob's reserve, Buck Island, all must see.
Bruno was awesome! He made our island experience! Thank you so very much! All the girls at the front desk were very nice and extremely helpful at anything you asked.
