Could be lovely, but...

Pros: Location, and the grounds. Staff are always smiling and friendly. The bar area was nice.
Cons: Room refurbishment would be a good idea! There was lots of work going on outside but why spend money on the grounds when the rooms are so awful?
Location: Too many things to do nearby to mention. We went to a Crocodile Farm and an Elephant Safari.
This Hotel should be a little piece of Paradise but falls way short. Upon arrival, the Hotel Receptionist was very friendly but not informative. You had to prise information out of him. eg. Q. "Can you tell me about the Spa?" A. "It's there" (pointing). Our room (19) was in desperate need of refurbishment. The bathroom looked like it was last modernised in the 1930s. No Shower, only an old stained bath. The bedding was crisp and clean but the room and the bathroom were dirty. The bed sat 150mm off the wall and the accumulated dirt behind the bed was inches thick. The bed was old and creaked loudly every time you moved. The adjoining single bedroom for our Son was similar without the creaking bed. The food in the restaurant was mixed. Nice presentation but the fish tasted off and the seafood was absent. Breakfast looked decidedly un-appetising and the fried egg was a cross between a scrambled egg and a white omelette. We didn't try the Spa facilities, so we can't comment. We had much higher expectations for our stay at this Hotel and were sadly disappointed.

Relaxing and friendly hotel

Pros: Friendly staff, good food and surrounded by trees and flowers.
Cons: The swimming pool and area. The pool was being filled up when we arrived but needed a good clean. The relaxing area could be improved.
Location: We drive to the Kruger or other National Parks.
We spent 2 nights at this hotel and found it very nice. We stayed last year for 2 nights and chose to return. It is conveniently situated as we fly into JNB and drive to the Kruger so this is an excellent stop off point. The hotel staff are friendly and it is very reasonably priced, the food is very good.

Pros: Gardens are lush, rotunda was very clean and the restaurant has a lovely deck.
We had a lovely nights stay at the Shangri -la hotel. Lovely gardens with lots of interesting and colorful birds. Dinning room very elegant, food good, staff friendly. Would recommend for a night stay over.
