Never again

Posted Sep 7, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: See above
We stayed for 3 nights in mid- August. The only really good thing is the location. The corridors are white and without any sort of character, and no, that is not minimalistic. The shower room lacked ANY sort of shelf to put even a toothbrush on. The sliding wardrobe doors in the room met in the middle of the shelves - peculiar access to say the least. We came back on day 2 and the "coffee bar" and reception area was cluttered with the new arrival of beds. The receptionist did manage to open up and fill the coffee machine, only to rush out to what we thought was a guest who needed attention. Well, she needed a cigarette break with her friend outside the hotel. Fire alarm went off in the early hours of the morning. After 1/2 an hour we were told to go inside again without as much as a "Sorry". I did mention my disappointment to the receptionist, but he thought it was enough to say that it was a guest that set off the alarm and the hotel has just been taken over from a chain. What has that got to do with me? This place needs updating on staff and the interior. Breakfast was good.

good central location

Posted Sep 5, 2014
Pros: location and comfort of the room. hotel staff very helpful
Cons: a small bar with some food available.
Location: close to the Palace, good shopping and the harbor.
this was our second stay in the hotel within 10 days. We were upgraded to a junior suite at check in and found the room quite large and very comfortable. This room faced the main street and was actually more quite than the room facing the other direction at the back of the hotel. clock bells are noticeable in this city. the location is excellent with close proximity to all attractions and transportation. Breakfast was great. there is no bar or restaurant in this hotel however there are many close by.

Great hotel in perfect location

Posted Aug 25, 2014
Pros: Great location, staff very helpful, a very good breakfast with a lot of selection.
Cons: We could not work out how to control the heat/ cool in the room. We hear the unit going on but seemed to have no control.
Location: Great location for all sightseeing. Only 3-4 blocks from the harbor, palace, museums close by. Many good restaurants close by.
The hotel was very comfortable and in a perfect location. The breakfast was excellent. We could have also had the dinner however chose to eat in one of the restaurants close by. It was easy to get to by train from the airport. You depart one station after the central station and walk back maybe 3 blocks. You can take the fast train for about 170 Konge each or the slower train for 90.

Location

Posted Aug 2, 2014
Pros: the front desk staff
Cons: The food
Location: So central, everything is within walking distance!!!
If you are looking for location, it is superb. However, the noise from some nightclub close by is unbearable,,specially on lower floors. Additionally, the free dinner leaves much to be desired. However, when it comes to the assistance of the desk help, both, Maria and Carsten (hope spelling is correct) were beyond amazing. Full of support, friendliness and made us feel like long lost friends and not just paying guests.

Perfect Location and Terrific Food!

Posted Jul 10, 2014
Pros: * Complimentary and delicious breakfast and dinner buffets * Location--close to subway/train station, shops, museums, harbor
Cons: The hotel is in need of some refurbishment in addition to air conditioning. Also, there is not much programming available on the TV.
Location: The hotel is across from a park, one block from Karl Johan's Gate, and a short walk to the harbor, shops, museums, and the subway/train system.
We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Cristiana Teater very much. When we first booked, they were owned by another company, and our reservations included only a complimentary breakfast buffet. However, when they became affiliated with Clarion, a complimentary dinner was added, and this became a delicious and valuable bonus! It almost made up for the fact that there is no air conditioning in the hotel, and during our stay, Oslo experienced some of its warmest weather. The location is also a plus: the subway, train, and airport express station is about a 3-minute walk from the hotel, as are many shops, the harbor, museums, other sights, and Karl Johan's Gate, which is the main street.

Excellent location in downtown close to everything

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: Location, proximity to city center, monuments restaurants everything.
Cons: The lobby is plain as compared to other hotels. They should decorate it a bit to give a nice first impression
Location: Downtown location. Its next door to the Palace, National Theatre, Noble Academy
At first it looks very plain. It is an old hotel very centrally located. Accessible by direct train from the Airport. Just get off at the National Theater 3rd stop. Rooms are large and have been well decorated. Has a wooden floor which is great. This was the only hotel we stayed in Norway where we had a single queen comforter other wise all hotels had two singles. Well we like to cuddle so it worked for us. Bathrooms are spacious clean and comfortable. Like the idea of glass between the bathroom and the bedroom...once again thoughtfully creative. Great for couples We enjoyed very much.

Problem finding the hotel, partly because the name had changed. Location is good and the price was very reasonable.

Food

I was bout to go for dinner when a couple came downstairs and said...yesterday was terrible and today the waitress put. Spoon in to taste the food decided that it needed some flavor so she put the flavoring in nod then put the spoon in to stir the food...after it had been in her mouth! They were out of there so fast....nd they hey get me a quiet room....it was so loud....they moved me the second day. That is from outside noise. Other than that they were ok fine.
