Reykjavik, Iceland Hotel Rooms at the Independent

Borgthor was there to meet us at the apartment, althiough we were slightly delayed arriving from airport. Fully equipped kitchen although we only used the kettle & fridge freezer. Very warm & modern, great views of the Northern Lights from the apartment's 2 sided terrace. - Lucky or what! There is underground parking though we did not rent a car. Have a good breakfast in the Hotel marina opposite ( £13GBP) and try the quirky, excellent and inexpensive Sea Baron restaurant adjacent & the reykjavik fish & chip restaurant along the street for informal evening meals. The only picky point was the wood laminate floors were a bit gritty, otherwise room cleaniness spot on. Very comfy bed. If you look at tripadvisor, I could not understand the negative reviews -would definitely recommend staying here as we normally do hotels. The apartment location and price clinched the deal - some of the hotels offered are a bit up chucks - eg The Natura

I had a wonderful stay at the A10. I travelled to Iceland with my daughter (14 months) and they accommodated us very well. One of my tours was cancelled and Mangus was able to save the day and arrange a half day tour for us in its place. The breakfast was nice and the free coffee and tea were a delight. The hot tub under the beautiful sky is also a must! I will definitely be staying here again.

The apartments are 1 street away from the main street (tourist information, bars, eateries and shops) and a short walk from the harbour. The staff were incredibly helpful. The desk was manned from 8am till 8pm, after that there is someone available in the sister hotel a few blocks away. There was a tablet on the reception desk connected to them if you did need to speak to someone. The apartment was lovely, clean, warm, spacious, and very well equipped. Milk and cereal was provided at no cost. Even the sofa bed was comfy. If I want to be really picky it was a little irritating that there was only 1 tv remote for both the tvs, and a teapot would have been useful. I did say I was being picky!

We travelled to Reykjavik for a short break with a 15 and 12 year old. We stopped off at the Blue Lagoon on route from the airport and were dropped off at the apartment by Reykjavik excursions. We did a Golden Circle tour and enjoyed the shopping area with lots of nice food including Wolf Fish at the Icelandic Fish and Chip restaurant. It was cold and snowy but we all loved it.

Been said before the invisible staff at reception is a bit strange, but we were prepared for remote reception by phone from reading reviews on this site so no drama and worked very well. Room was clean supplied with tea and coffee, towels and bed settee linen. we had studio apartment 4 and although you could make out music downstairs it was all over by 11:30. ( this was Sunday to Thursday so weekends may be different ). good modern bathroom with rotten egg hot smelling water typical of everywhere in Iceland. Didn't see any hotel staff at all and didn't need to so how do you mark that? No doubt any problems would be deal with ok. Would stay here again. Be prepared for an expensive dining experience not just here but the whole of Reykjavik if you visit any restaurants. Lastly the lift has the ground floor as level 1 and so on up to the second floor marked as 3.......

Beautiful couldn't fault our stay here it was perfect really central after being out was a real treat to go back to. Fully equipped and the beds were superb. On arrival we were given the penthouse for 2 days 4 bed 3 bathroom we felt like royalty. All trips ect was well organised. We had a great 5 day break

The room was absolutely perfect for our stay. The architecture was lovely and the owner was very friendly. Definitely would recommend to a friend.

I stayed here for 4 nights with a friend and couldn't fault my experience at all. The staff were polite and helpful - the bedding was feather which I am allergic to and they changed it straight away for me Stayed in a studio apartment which had all the conveniences we needed

I usually don't review hotels, but I have to say that this hotel was awesome. We were within walking distance to almost all tourist attractions in Reykjavik and phenomenal restaurants. We were only a few blocks from the main shopping streets and the Harpa concert hall. The staff was amazing. They helped us set up every tour and adjusted the booking when the weather messed up our plans. The rooms themselves were great with a kitchen island and sitting area. We went with a group of five and we all hung out in my room before and after we went out and nobody had to sit on my bed since we had the sitting area. The hotel has a great bar attached to it, and the free breakfast at the place next door is great (from 7am to 11am which was perfect for the days that we slept in). I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Family hotel ... provided travel from and to airport ... good breakfast, and very nice restaurant across harbor in Keflavik ... would certainly use Hotel Berg again
