“Great Location”
This hotel is on top of Nob Hill where you are away from the bustle of downtown yet only four blocks from Union Square. There is an excellent restaurant (The Big Four) right in the hotel any many good ones within walking distance.
“Beautiful hotel in a great location”
We really enjoyed our stay. The room was beautifully appointed very quiet. There's a great bar downstairs and the staff treated us like royalty. Plus, the location was perfect - right on the cable car line and within walking distance of lots of great eating and shopping. We didn't get a room with a view, but I bet it would be worth the splurge.
“Exceeded expectations”
My 16 year old daughter and I stayed for 5 days and loved it all. We could not have afforded it if we had not gone through Expedia. The location on Nob Hill was perfect for exploring all areas of the city. The fact that the trolley stopped right in front made it even easier. The room was huge and clean. The room service was fast and delicious but a bit pricey. We ate at the restaurant one time. We suggest the filet mignon and the Guinness stout pot roast. The piano player took requests and service was excellent. We couldn't believe the spa! It was a beautiful way to relax after trudging the hills. The doormen were friendly and helpful as was the concierge.
“Beautiful Nob Hill”
The Huntington is an excellent choice. I used to stay in the busy Union Square area, but now prefer the serence elegance of Nob Hill. A late night drink in The Huntington Bar completes any evening out in San Fran. My only "complaint" which is more an observation is that the bathrooms could use some updating.
“Great place”
We loved the Huntington. The only negative is the charge for internet wi-fi connection. A great hotel, particularly just 30 miles north of Silicon Valley, should have free wi-fi -- like all the lesser places, in all the lesser locations.
“The best on Nob Hill, San Francisco, CA”
We have been to the restrauant and bar, "THE BIG FOUR" several times before this visit but had never stayed at THE HUNTINGTON. It is a wonderful "old world" up to date hotel. The pianist in the bar, Michael Parsons, who has played there for 23 years is terrific and adds so much to THE HUNTINGTON and the San Francisco experience.
“Great hotel great location”
Centrally located and right across from a park, the Huntington is a gem of a hotel. The staff is courteous and friendly, and clearly makes an effort to provide individualized service. One of the doormen even recognized and greeted me when I was walking on a different street near the hotel! The rooms were comfortable and spacious, and furnished with a contemporary decor well suited to this historic grande dame.
“San Francisco as it should be”
Wonderful "old San Francisco" hotel modernized beautifully. I loved the warm facecloth upon arrival, and the quiet of my room at night.
“Really a fine spot in the greatest city on earth!”
This is a marvelous city with great vistas, super restaurants and unbelievable variety of activities. You haven't lived until you've spent a few days in San Francisco.
“A beautiful birthday weekend!”
I booked a room at the Huntington for my husband's birthday weekend because, since childhood, he had always wanted to stay there. I mailed his gift to the hotel ahead of time and then called the concierge to ask if they could put it in our room as a surprise. I also mentioned that we would be very grateful if they could give up a nice room as it was a special occasion. Note that I had booked a regular room at a very good Expedia rate, well below their usual rack rate, so I really had no expectation that they would upgrade us. So imagine my surprise when the front desk greeted my husband with a big, "Happy Birthday" and the bellhop escorted us up to a huge one bedroom suite on the top floor of the hotel! The views were breathtaking. The room was lovely. My husband's gift was perfectly positioned on the entry table. And an hour after we arrived, room service sent us complimentary tea, coffee and teatime treats. The entire staff was so nice and helpful during our stay. Thank you, thank you Huntington for the wonderful birthday gift!
