Perfect for a weekend in Seattle!

Posted Jan 23, 2015
Pros: Location, food, staff, eagle!
Location: Very close to University Village shopping and UW stadium and campus.
We stayed here because we live an hour from Seattle and we had tickets to a late evening football game at Husky stadium on Sturday and tickets to see a show at the 5th Avenue Theater on Sunday. The desk clerk was friendly, welcoming and helpfully provided a map of the area for our walk to the stadium. The facility is lovely, although a bit dated. Our room was very pleasant and cozy despite some dampness around the windows from the rain outside. It's a bit of a walk to the stadium but so much better than sitting in traffic! The best part of our stay was the breakfast buffet the next morning. The food was tasty and plentiful and the location overlooking a pond, and the forested grounds, resident eagle included, was lovely and relaxing. Hard to believe we were in the heart of Seattle. A brisk walk around the grounds and neighboring area was also very enjoyable. A real find!

Extremely convenient to UW Medical Center!!

Posted Jan 10, 2015
Pros: Location!!!! Loved the feeling of not being 'in the city". Staff was great, as well.
Cons: Updating rooms as deemed possible.
Location: Loved the location and the ease of walking to some cool restaurants---or, a very quick drive to U Village, which is always fun!
The Hotel staff was excellent! The room was comfortable and clean,--adequate. However, it was quite cool! We did not make effort to have staff correct that, but we will on our next visit. The breakfast was great. Overall facilities are beautiful---though reminiscent of the 70's. We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay and look forward to coming again in a few weeks.

Looking for a room near the UW campus, Talaris was a pleasant surprise. Nestled in a park-like setting, this facility was quiet, comfortable, and reasonably priced.

UW vs OSU Roadtrip

Posted Nov 25, 2014
Cons: They really shouldn't change anything.
Location: Several quality restaurants within blocks; grocery store, coffee shop, and the entire Husky sports complex within walking distance.
We were up from Portland to see the Beavers vs Huskies game. We found Talaris on Expedia and both the price and location were right, so we booked it. It's an interesting place, and that's not a negative. It's definitely an independent facility (not a chain) and it's somewhat "lodge style." The staff was very accommodating and helpful, finding a room that fit our wheelchair accessible needs. (Hats off to Bob! Thank you!) It's a nice, peaceful setting; very pretty and quiet. It feels secluded, but it's very "city accessible" as well. The buildings are well out of date, but that's part of the charm of this place. It's not high tech, but does offer free wi-fi throughout.

Nice breakfast location on the pond.

Posted Nov 10, 2014
Pros: location. breakfast.
Cons: update interior fittings.
Location: University, food, lake, bike trails
The fittings are a bit old. The shower mixer was hard to use and probably from the late 1960s. The interior of the lodge could use an update. Liked walking down the bike trail to my meetings

We were surprised to find ourselves driving down a one-way road through the forest. Upon check-in (night), the front desk informed us that the property sits on 18 acres. Once day light hit we followed the path to the complementary breakfast and enjoyed the views of the property, including a bald eagle. The room is a bit dated, but the lights were on with classical music playing when we arrived. The location is convenient! Next to University, Shopping Mall, and walking distance to food. We were definitely impressed with the property and extremely happy with the price!

Pros: Nothing
Location: University of Washington
Bed sagged so much we both had back aches for 2 days. Bathroom sink clogged up. Old dirty decorative pillows on bed, old stained carpet. Could not adjust temp in room. Alarm clock did not work. Way too much money to stay here.

Weekend in Seattle, WA

Pros: The breakfast room The breakfast The staff The wooded grounds The location....quiet and close to family Free parking
Cons: Fix shower and toilet paper holder Upgrade shower to a water efficient system Upgrade heating and a/c unit Paint scuffs on walls
Location: Lovely, quiet location and near family. Loved exploring Hardwick's Hardware Store. Explored the U Village.
We enjoyed the quiet location and it was convenient to where we planned to go. We walked around the grounds several times, enjoyed the squirrel antics, ducks and seeing the eagle in her nest. Fantastic mushroom display near the pond. There was a storm our second night, power went out during our dinner at a nearby Indian restaurant but staff was very helpful in the situation. Power didn't go out at Talaris but lots of branches down the next morning. The driveway out was cleared early. The staff at Talaris was very helpful and friendly.
