If you plan to get out and about in the area, why don't you head to the the Parque Nacional Marino Ballena?.
While it may be a temptation to just chill out while vacationing in Uvita, remember, the surrounding region's numerous scenic and cultural delights lie just beyond your doorstep. You may also wish to check out Puerto Cortes, 20 miles (32 kilometers) to the northwest, and Portalon 20 miles (32 kilometers) to the southeast.
About 40 miles (64 kilometers) to the north of Uvita is Cartago, a regional center and the home of Our Lady of the Angels Basilica, Parque Nacional Tapanti and Parque Nacional Volcan Irazu. Don't return to Uvita until you've stopped by Cartago's Monumento Nacional Guayabo and Turrialba Volcano National Park.
No vacation is complete without a bit of down time. Bird watching is one of the ways they relax here. Here and wildlife watching is another.
Sometimes, the most rewarding vacation moments are to be found in local eateries. Don't end your stay in Central Pacific Coast without sampling pargo (red snapper) as well as ceviche (marinated raw fish).
Before you head back to the familiarity of home, you'll be bidding Uvita a sad Adiós (farewell).
