One of the nation’s best minor league baseball parks provides insights into the local passion for sports in downtown Indianapolis.

Home to the Indianapolis Indians, Victory Field has been an iconic minor league ballpark in the center of the city for decades. Several popular publications have referenced it as one of the country’s best arenas of its kind. Visit Victory Field for an enjoyable time outside on a sunny day and watch a game of baseball.

Get a sense of the local culture and traditions from the fans around you. The stadium has several charming picnic areas, allowing views of the game as you eat. Note that the arena has about 12,000 seats as well as a large green berm for roughly 2,000 fans to gather. It also includes several luxury suites and VIP areas. During the game, purchase snacks and drinks from the vendors and chat with local fans about what the game means to them.

Check the score on the modern HD display, which also features statistics and interactive messages. On non-game days, join a tour to get access to the indoor batting cages, premium seating areas and visiting clubhouse and training room. The site can be rented to groups for unique team-building events such as batting practice on the playing field.

Group tours of the stadium take place twice a day on Tuesdays and Thursdays from April through August. Pay a per-person fee, with free admission for teachers and bus drivers. The Indianapolis Indians are the professional AAA baseball affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, playing their baseball in this arena, which was inaugurated in 1996. Check the stadium’s schedule online for other events, such as Flicks at Victory Field movie nights.

Find Victory Field on the western edge of the city center of Indianapolis. From the city’s railway station, walk west for about 15 minutes to get here. You can also take a bus to one of the nearby stops. Travel around the area to see nearby attractions such as White River State Park, Lucas Oil Stadium and the Indiana Convention Center.
