"This is an old building, and based on my room it was not adequately maintained for a long time. The current operator has wisely prioritized first the updates that travelers care about most: the building exterior, public spaces, and my room's furnishings were up-to-date and tasteful. Staff are competent, polite, professional, and take pride in their work. The bed and all other room furniture were new and comfortable and the room was thoroughly cleaned. However, the cosmetic work doesn't fix every consequence of years of neglect: doors that are difficult to close securely; a very dated security system; non-digital AC/heat that needs repeated fiddling with an unlabeled slider to achieve a preferred room temp; missing ceiling fixtures in the bathroom; bathroom ceiling plaster mildewed, cracked, and falling, with a hole. I would stay here again because my sense is that the operator is working to fix all these things; it just takes time and money. Reasonable people who are looking primarily for clean, comfortable rooms at a reasonable price (and don't have mildew/mold allergies) shouldn't hesitate to stay. There also aren't a ton of better choices in the area. Just be ready to overlook a few warts under the makeup. "

"This place was AMAZING!!! Jim and Carmen were so easy to work with. Anything you need, they are right there to help out! There is nothing bad to say about our experience! Don't worry, even though you're right next to their house, they totally respect your privacy. It was so quiet and peaceful. Cooper, the dog, is a hoot! It was a decent drive to anywhere touristy but well worth it because of the scenery along the way. There is so-o much to do in all directions of this cabin. We stayed for 5 nights. Definitely not long enough. We've pinned this cabin on the map in hopes of going back some day! Thanks Jim and Carmen for sharing your little piece of heaven with us!"

"Our first glamping experience did not disappoint! The tent, kitchen, and bathroom were all great! The deck and the hot tube made the whole experience even more fun! Wade greeted us and pointed out our spot and told us about the stuff we needed to know. The spot had everything, towels, hot tub towels, tp, kitchen supplies (no stove, but there is a grill) utensils, soaps, everything! We highly recommend Evan’s Cliff for your next stay near Wind Cave, Custer and surrounding area!"

"My husband and I would definitely stay here again. It is about a 10 minute drive from restaurants and grocery. The house has a great bed, plenty of space and equipment to cook, and a living room with comfy seating for several people. It is super clean and the hosts are very attentive."

"This is perhaps the best Super 8 I have ever stayed at. Some are always good and others just Ok or old. But I stayed at this one about 5 years and liked it so much I had to stay here again on this year's trip."
