Finally
We have been staying at hotels for decades and some were good, some just were failures. This W was exactly what we had expected and hoped for in a high caliber establishment. Service, design, spacious rooms and good food. The pool area and garden were an oasis in the middle of Westwood. A strong four-star. Thanks expedia.com.

Great Place for Hip Travelers.
If you are a business traveler that demands peace and quiet, this is not for you. If you are a hip, in-the-know, work hard and play hard type, then this is the best place in West LA. Pro: Cool design and decor. Prompt service, the bar that transforms into a nightclub. The pool. Con: smell of tobacco in non-smoking rooms. Overall a great place to stay.
Traveler's tip on nightlife
No need to go out clubbing. The bar in the lobby (Forgot name) becomes a nightclub, on Fri. and Sat. nights. There is also events at the pool at night.

Will Return
I stayed here because of its reputation and because I’m a fan of the Bliss Spas in NYC. It did not disappoint, and I would highly recommend it to anyone wishing to stay in the Westwood area. Only issue was walls and ceilings can be kind of thin, and anyone on the phone next door was easily audible. Doors also sound like they’re slamming but there is no way to avoid that. Earplugs for sleeping are recommended for any one with sensitive hearing.

There is a 24hr CVS a couple of blocks away that can help you avoid $8-9 bottles of water and other snacks.

over the hill
the W has not maintained this property well at all -- carpets are buckled and dirty. The furnishings are ridiculously cheap. Bed was saggy. Time for a full re-do.
