This would rate as the worst hotel experience of my life. I stay in a lot of mid range hotels and pub accommodation, but this hotel was very, very bad.
Checkin - arrived right on 2pm and was told that my room was not ready so I should go away and come back later.
Returned around 45mins later and waited for an other 20mins while the 2 staff at checkin (who seemed to be learning the process as they went) struggled with the 8 people milling around at reception.
Spent the night in room 222. This was at street level and was kept awake until after midnight by people yelling/fighting on the street directly outside my room.
Woke up around 1am and felt itchy. Dismissed it at first, but eventually got up and shone a light on the bedding and discovered bed bugs. This forced me to sleep on top of the 2nd bed in my clothing for the remainder of the night.
Woke up itchy and tired and went to use the kettle to make a coffee. The kettle has a white slimy substance in the base so that idea was abandoned.
I’ve since spent the past 8 days on antihistamines to try to reduce the discomfort from the bed bug bites.
I would not recommend this place to anyone, sleep in your car or on the riverbank instead.
