You're spoiled for sightseeing choice when spending time in Juneau. Auke Bay is a great place to begin here, but there are plenty of other fine spots to experience. University of Alaska-Southeast, and Mendenhall Golf Course are near the urban area and will top off your day nicely.

We were refugees from a flight cancelation due to a storm. We picked the cheapest place within walking distance of downtown. This is a modest motel with a popular restaurant next door. A convenience store shares the parking lot where we found sandwiches for dinner since the weather was truly terrible. The staff are just wonderful, friendly and helpful. The next day they took us back to the airport in their courtesy van. I would stay here again.

My first stop was the shrine of St. Therese, advised by a local. I’m not a religious man but this felt like the most peaceful place on Earth. Great spot to take in the beauty of Alaska.
