A hidden gem

This was an unexpected surprise on our journey through Spain. To reach it we had to ride a mile up a dirt track through open farm land and then we arrived through a big archway to proper old hacienda. We were met at the entrance and shown to our suite of rooms all well decorated in the traditional manor ,We had a large well equipped bathroom and a good side bedroom with mosquito nets and ceiling fan and a sitting room There was a welcomed swimming pool with a good seating area. Also a large restaurant where we had a well presented and tasteful meal all from local products, We had a memorable stay However the only down side could be the lack of air conditioning, but the rooms had shutters and were kept cool. Also we had little choice about our evening meal, but the surprise was part of the charm. A really lovely place to stay

Different !!

We booked this hotel for a 2 night "out of the way" stay as part of a tour round Spain. We expected countryside and that it what we had, a large traditional farm converted to provide a number of comfortable rooms around the original farm courtyard. We were the only guests so we stayed in splendid isolation amongst the cattle, pigs and general life of the farm; it was a little strange eating in a restaurant area which could probably accommodate 100 + people (the hotel is used for celebrations etc) The owner and his family were very helpful, staff were working in the kitchen (just for us) and the meals offered were good, not exceptional, but perhaps a little costly for what they were but the hotel is so remote there was no easy option with regard to travelling to find an alternative. Some of the previous reviews take issue with the dusty track to and from the hotel - the answer is easy- don't book a remote farm hotel if you want smooth tarmac roads and no dust on your car BUT this is a long and very bumpy track.

Van authenticiteit gesproken

Enigszins moeilijk te vinden, maar wat een een verrassing na 6 km verharde weg door weilanden met grazende koeien en paarden, echt fantastisch. Echt een aanrader voor wie van een authentieke Spaanse haciënda houdt. Vriendelijk en Fantastisch onthaal, de open haard in onze zitruimte was reeds aangestoken bij onze aankomst en het aperitief werd ons met enkele toastjes in onze kamer gebracht. Alhoewel we de enige klanten waren werd ons in het restaurant een eenvoudige maar degelijke maaltijd voorgeschoteld. Ontbijt zeer eenvoudig maar met uitsluitend zelf gemaakte confituur. Onze hond, een Berner Senne van meer dan 50kg, kon vrij rondlopen samen met 2 hangbuik varkens en de honden van de eigenaar. Koeien, paarden en een ezel in de aanpalende weiden.

Lo mejor y lo peor: está en el medio de la nada.

Fuímos al hotel después de cenar en Cáceres y se hizo complicado llegar. Está a mas de una hora y tienes que recorrer un camino de tierra de casi 10 km. Para nosotros fue un problema pero si quieres tranquilidad este es el sitio. Otro pero es que las camas son de 1,80 con lo que a nada que midas un poco se te saldrán los pies.

hotel rural el vequeril

The hotel was very good but very difficult to find as it was badly signed posted and down a long roughly surfaced driveway, it was 7 Km long and took us 25 minutes to go down the lane which wasn't not mentioned on the description on the internet. However, the hotel was very quiet and confortable.
