Nice but noisy on Friday nightPosted Jul 24, 2017
Cons: Cheaper prices
Location: Not much happening in this sleepy town - seems to be the place to gather hence can be noisy on friday and Saturday nights
Good food but expensive for pub food - not much choice to go elsewhere

Staff were very friendly and welcoming, food and drink were excellent, the cottage room is slightly on the small side. We would stay here again

Lovely little hide awayPosted May 30, 2017
Pros: Room was very clean and pretty.
Cons: Cups in the room were dirty.
Location: Nothing in the village apart from a little playground by the village hall, lovely village to just walk about though. There are places around 20min away
Really nice B+B for an overnight stay. There isn't anything else really in this village but it is a great in between distance to Bourton-on-the-water and Batsford. The food is very nice and staff very friendly. It's a bit noisy whilst the pub downstairs is still open but that is to be expected and once the pub is closed it is very peaceful. Only down side of our stay was that there was a power cut which tripped out the alarm system causing a constant beep from around 3am preventing any sleep until around 4.30am when my other half went down to silence it for them as the staff did not seem to know the system very well. But those things can't be helped, what i would say is maybe the staff could read how the system works should this occur again.... Overall very happy and it was a lovely little hide away for a weekend away.
Five Star Service, but not four star acc!Posted Apr 21, 2017 on Hotels
Five star service, but not quite 4 star accommodation. Really very good food but the bed was like sleeping on a sack of potatoes and the dribble shower didn't help the cause.
A lucky findPosted Mar 14, 2017 on Hotels
If all UK accommodation offered as good value as this place, it would be a big boost to the tourist industry. We chose the Cotswolds and the Hollow Bottom almost at random for a 4 night break . The service and the friendly atmosphere in this pub are great. The staff are cheerful, chatty and most helpful . The food is well prepared and tasty. The village is pretty but quiet with little through traffic. There are lovely walks in the area. We'd recommend the 5 or 6 mile walk down the valley of the River Windrush to Bourton on the Water. You can get the bus back along the A436 towards Andoversford. Get out at Westfield, then it's another 2 miles over the fields and through some woods back to Guiting Power. You'll need O.S. map 163 to locate the paths. There's lots to see in the area : lovely villages, the charming town of Winchcombe, Hidcote Gardens, Cheltenham, 5500 year old Belas Knap (if you're into the neolithic). Yes, we definitely recommend the old but well modernised pub , Hollow Bottom. Robin and Judith Barrett (Halifax).
