Disappointing stay at Melville Castle
I booked a room at the Melville Castle thinking that it would be a neat experience, I was sorely disappointed. When we arrived we were given a room on the main floor, when we opened the room door we were astounded to see that the beds were not made up and all bedding was piled up on the dresser. We immediately went back to the reception and received a cursory apology and assigned another room on the second floor. After climbing 2 flights of stairs with our luggage we entered a 2 twin bed room. We later went down to the restaurant and was assigned a table for two by a waiter.. The table legs were uneven and the table rocked quite badly. We mentioned this to the waiter as requested another table but no other table was apparently available although we saw at least 4 tables empty. With a promise to fix the table the waiter left while we looked at the menu (which was very limited). After 20 minutes with no service we decided to leave and look for a restaurant elsewhere. We passed the waiter on the way out as he was standing at the top of the stairs apparently doing nothing. Next morning while trying to shower we realized that as the room was at the top of the building the roof was very sloped, the bath was against the side of the bathroom with the roof sloping across the bath. I am 5"7 and needed to bend my head to shower, my son is 6"1 and he was nearly bent in half in order to shower. The shower curtain was so long we needed to stand on it to shower, very dangerous.
