Someplace Else
Enjoyed our time here relaxing. The deck was great to sun on and still have the Ocean feel to it, as there were so many surfers that you really couldn’t get in the water. A few boards on the deck need to be replaced, and the grill legs are rusted and needs to be replaced. Other than that we enjoyed our stay here and will consider it if we go back to Folly Beach.

Great location at the beach
Love the location and the deck. Kind of funky old house needs some maintenance work but the hot water was good, stove worked, and the heat worked on the days that we needed it. Would love to see a small washer dryer.

Beautiful ocean views with an amazing back deck
Nice stay/ the home needs a lot of updating. We stay in Folly 5-6 times a year and love switching it up every time and this one unfortunately missed the mark on several things 1- the A/C needs to be completely upgraded. As much as we were mindful of keeping doors shut, it just stayed at 77-78. By the amount of fans in closet, I’m guessing this isn’t the first time hearing it (ironically our brand new HVAC unit was having issues the week we came so I did not reach out to owners because I was tired of dealing with repairs and didn’t feel like dealing with it on vacation. I will say leading up and during the stay they were very responsive and communication was zero problem so i am sure it may have gotten looked at on the trip, we just didn’t feel like dealing with that) 2 - make sure to read the home description to this is no beach access from the front. I highly do not recommend young kids here if you are taking wagons/etc to the beach. While the access is beside the home, it is stairs going up and stairs going down. Kind of defeated the oceanfront home to be honest - but we did know there wasn’t an access going into the trip. Just a heads up. This is ALSO surf beach/ so tons of surfers at this beach access all.day! 3 - even though the home is very dated, the house cleaners I could tell do an excellent job at keeping it clean and tidy in between guests & has just about all you need there 4- I would brighten the exterior up! Let it feel like a beach home when you pull in!

We're glad you enjoyed your stay. The home is as presented in the listing and it is an older style original Folly Beach beach house. They do not make them like this anymore. The A/C is relatively new and we check ed it and it is working fine. You were here during the extremely high heat weeks where we were topping out over 100 each day, An A/C system isn't going to bring that down more than 20-25F from the outside temp so it was working as expected. Most of our guests enjoy the ocean from views and location, the beach access is right along the side of the home as we are not allowed to access the dunes.

Location is Key
The location of this property is excellent! Right next to the public access, requiring you to go around the front of the house and next door, easy peasy. the deck out the back is also a plus to the experience As a beach house this place is excellent; no fuss, no muss, meaning a little dated but enjoyable. Plenty of parking and all the comforts of home

Mildew & Lysol spray unbearable for anyone with allergys
Could not stay in the house because of the odors of mildew & disinfectant sprays. Had to leave the property after a few hours. Very very dissapointed.

We're sorry you didn't enjoy the home. Our homes are spotlessly clean (and appropriately disinfected) before all guest arrivals. We don't have any mildew, we use monitors in our homes to detect the presence of any mold or mildew. We understand that some people are sensitive to cleaning products but we do have to clean the homes throughly between guests.

Peaceful and Refreshing
Perfect place to unwind and find peace. About a mile and a half from the pier, so the beach was quiet and relaxing. Still close enough to everything. The house was cozy and perfect for our stay.

Just what we needed.
Hard working over stressed nurses looking for a relaxing get away. We were able to leave our troubles behind and find our zen with nice walks on the beach and simple deck sits. The house was just the right size for 5 women. Nice distance from town that we didn't have to worry about the parting being bothersome, but close enough that we could partake when we wanted. Quick easy ride to local historical sites, attractions, and Charleston. Would highly recommend. Only thing missing was more washcloths/towels for the week, each of us only got one and not well stocked with basics like toilet paper.

Great beach access and beach watching here
Make no mistake…this is no Hilton. It’s rustic and not brand new, but plenty clean and lots of character. The pictures are spot on. Beach watching from the swing is great (but watch your step.) And be prepared for not too many staples in the kitchen. Finding Bart’s Market is a must. They are tiny, but miraculously always had what we were looking for. The people working there are fantastic and they always were easy to park at on our stay. Check out their boiled peanuts and ice cream. We also enjoyed the crab shack and Rita’s (great peel and eat shrimp.) The house had terrific parking and it’s a cute little 2 minute walk to the beach. Again, the access and views and sounds of the beach are the most stellar points to this place. We had a great stay, even with the typical SC fickle spring weather.

Awsome House w amazing views
Many here have commented on the "Rustic Nature" and it is true, if you are looking for sparkly brand new modern accommodations, this will not be the house for you. That being said if you want a TRUE "Beach House" experience, this is an amazing house. the Bedroom is fantastic, Large windows (That Open) where you get a lot of light and can listen to the ocean, The bed while only a Queen (I'm 6'4") is very comfortable. A comfortable Living Room with plenty of seating. Well appointed Kitchen, although a Keurig would be nice. :) Now lets talk about the outside, the Deck is the most amazing part of the house, Four Tables with lots of chairs. an area to set up a bar, a massive sundeck area (this is separate from where the tables are) and finally a swing situated in the Dunes. If you are looking for one of the most romantic getaways of your life this is it. the privacy on the deck is unmatched for a beach house, tree lines to the left and right of the deck area. If you look deep there are a few MINOR maintenance and cosmetic issues but nothing that detracts from an awesome experience We will definitely be coming back if not this summer but for the Flip Flop drop again next year.

Perfect little beach house
The outdoor set up and proximity to the beach made this vacation for us. The house was perfect for the two of us, any more people and I would feel a little crammed. The house was very clean but has an older beach bungalow vibe to it. We watched dolphins and a couple sharks from the deck in the mornings and it was a great location. Quiet, but close to main street and a quick 30 min to Charleston. Just a side note-there should be a warning about no alcohol on the beach. We watched a few people get tickets for enjoying a couple beers on the beach. We were just glad we saw it before it happened to us too. Nothing worse than getting a ticket on vacation! Thank you for a great place to stay on our trip!

Perfect location!
First of all, what an awesome location and deck! It was so nice to have easy access to the house for cold drinks, snacks, bathroom, etc. No carrying of heavy bags and coolers to the beach. The sunrises were magical from the deck. And if you did want to go to the beach the access walkway was adjacent to house - Super easy. Not really within safe walking distance to town because it's a narrow road and no sidewalks. The house was basic but met all of our needs. It was a rustic original beach house, so don't expect one of the newer, fancier houses, but we were rarely in the house. It's dated and could use some work - a good deep cleaning, broken shades replaced, light bulbs were just bare basic bulbs in bathroom. Stuff like that but nothing major. Steven was very responsive and nice. I felt like anything we needed he would've been right there. We had a wonderful time and would go again. Thank you!

Quiet with great view
House could use some updating. The small bathroom needs work, it was a little dark and could use new blinds. It served its purpose. Easy access to beach. A mile and a half beach walk to town. The best part was sitting on the swing watching the sunrise, surfers and waves.

surfer city
Since hurricane 🌀 Ian was out at sea it provided some very nice surfing conditions. Usually this time of year there are few people at the beach...lol...but this week the beach was packed with a younger crowd who to be quite honest were polite, left the beach they were on clean and completely focused on one thing...SURFING....we would go out to the deck or beach at 5:45ish a.m. and there were already surfers in the water...lol..it was awesome...the house was clean (blinds and ac vents needed replacing) it was an enjoyable experience...oh, the key to the hot water is to have your sink and shower running simultaneously and you never lose your hot water....host was very responsive..Great food in Folley...no need to go into Charleston.....I would definitely return ...Morris Island was like taking a step back in history...anyways thank you

What a wonderful view! Location is Amazing!
I’d stay here again just for the location. The house was pretty clean considering it’s an old beach house! We had everything we needed for grilling and cooking when we didn’t want to eat out! Very good communication! My only complaint is that the hot and cold water doesn’t work properly and needs to be looked at and repaired by a plumber. The queen bed was lumpy and not good and the outside space needs a little upkeep. The view and location made it worth while thou.

Girls trip to Folly Beach!
It was our first time there and Someplace Else lured us in with the awesome deck overlooking the beach. The interior/decor is a bit dated and you have to get used to the waterless tank with the shower, but the location and view are worth it.

Great hideaway right on the beach!
The bungalow is so cozy, clean and comfortable. Public access to the beach is convenient. Given the popularity of the area with local surfers, we expected a little noise on a busy weekend, but we enjoyed a very quiet weekend. We enjoyed great views of sunrises, sunsets and the full moon rising from the deck and swing. Easy access to Charleston for some sightseeing. Great location for beach getaway and tourist activities.

Somewhere Else
Our family stayed at Somewhere Else in June of 2022. This is an older home. Pros: You are right on the beach. Beach access is right next to the house as you cannot walk on the dunes. The deck has multiple places to sit and visit and soak up the sun. The house is well stocked with dishes and ,beach towels. The screened in porch with rockers is great. Cons: No washer and dryer. It is not walkable to eateries or shops. Sofa sleeper is not comfortable to sleep on. If you want the beach experience with great outdoor seating then this is the place for you!

Fantastic funky beach home
As people who have stayed in a variety of "Up North Michigan" beachccottages, this place felt like home. If you want a shiny condo, go to Isle of Palms. If you want a family cottage with an amazing deck and the sound of the surf coming in your windows, stay HERE. Beds are comfortable, house was very clean and well equipped for cooking. Tips re hot water (on demand hot water heater). Seems better if no one else is running water while you shower. Turn hot on full, then adjust cold in tiny increments. If you go too far and get full cold, turn off completely and start over. It's not great, but better than running out of hot completely!

Folly Beach Weekend
Great beachfront cottage and convenient to the shopping area on Folly Beach and downtown Charleston. Only one complaint: the hot water is a little iffy. We made do, but someone should check the hot water heater.

Terrific decks overlooking the ocean. Right next to beach access. House was well-equipped.

Long weekend
Very nice clean and well stocked with everything we needed. The only negative was keeping shower water temp constant!

Truly Someplace Else
This was a lovely relaxing experience, beautiful deck & oceanfront property, just perfect, we just loved it , wish we had more time !!
