This hotel is extremely well managed with excellent service from the staff. I was amazed at how cheap the hotel was to stay there. The rooms have spectacular sea views and are roomy and well appointed.

The staff went above and beyond. It was my girlfriends 30th birthday and while I was in the UK they helped to get things organised and things didn’t change once we got here. The best treatment, I could see the staff did this across the board for everyone at the hotel. They really couldn’t have helped more if they tried, from the manager, to the reception staff, bar staff and everybody else. Very pretty, warm welcoming and a overall amazing stay in a beautiful setting. A perfect hub for if you are basing yourself in Unawatuna.

The accommodation is clean, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is good. This hotel isn’t 5 star though. If you are looking for 5 star luxury the Riu doesn’t have it

Friendly staff, attentive to room service needs. Shakila at breakfast was very good. She went out of the way to service us. There were 2 male receptionist staff also were great! Forgot their names. Expedia had listed standard room as ocean view, but the property didn’t acknowledge as ocean view for standard room. We got the room we wanted after explaining it, they were accommodating. Will go back again.

The room was very clean and the staff were all very helpful. The hotel is luxurious. Two beautiful pools and very good food. The views are stunning over the ocean. The beach is not suitable for swimming due to heavy surf and a strong side current but Talpe beach a 1.5k walk or tuk-tuk away has a safe beach behind a reef.
