We went at 3pm and it seems like most of the stalls were closed for an afternoon break. Make sure to visit before 1pm or after 4 pm.
the souq doesn’t actually open until 9 but there’s still a few things to look at and learn about in the fort too. Sounds like Friday is the ideal time to go when the market is bustling and there’s auctions of all sorts of things eg camels
