Kids and adults can enjoy the interactive exhibits of this museum, which encourages creativity, exploration, imagination and expression.

Visit the Portland Children’s Museum to drive an ambulance, play with water and experiment with light. Kids will love the hands-on activities that inspire creativity, investigation, thought and self-expression. The exhibits are designed for visitors aged from 6 months old to early teens.

The museum has 12 permanent exhibitions, specifically designed for kids to explore and parents to observe. In Building Bridgetown kids can work individually or as a team as they carry out home improvements with their own tool belt. Learn about the causes and effects of water in the Water Works studio or sit at the wheel of an ambulance in the Vroom Room. In the Twilight Trail kids can enjoy experimenting with light and shadows.

Go to the Grasshopper Grocery, where kids can load miniature shopping trolleys with goods and then scan them at a checkout. Listen to stories and adventure tales in the Treehouse Adventure. Let kids hide, get lost and then find their way inside the hedges of the Zany Maze.

Ask at the entrance about the museum’s temporary exhibits. The museum also runs ceramic, music, painting and science classes. Visit the museum’s official website for further details.

Situated in Washington Park, the Portland Children’s Museum is a 15-minute drive from downtown Portland. The museum is easily accessible via public transport such as buses and light rail. If you are arriving by car then pay for parking. Combine your visit with a trip to the Oregon Zoo or explore the picturesque walking trails of Washington Park.
