High season: 150 Euros nightly/900 euros weekly. 40 euro cleaning fee. Welcome to La Ginestra, a newly renovated cottage nestled inside Tuscany’s most romantic landscape, southern Siena Province. La Ginestra is nestled halfway between Florence (1¾ hours) and Rome (2 hours), and is a little over an hour’s drive from Siena. The cottage is an easy drive to some of Italy’s most revered sights, mostly through breathtaking countryside. It’s an exceptional independent house for two, offering privacy, a perfect location, and stellar views. La Ginestra has off street parking on the property behind a lockable gate. The house has one bedroom and bath, and is fully equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. There are terracotta floors throughout, with French doors in both the living room & bedroom that open to the outside. You can enjoy a meal or a glass of wine on one of the two patios. The modern, sleek and fully equipped kitchen has a professional style stove, quartz counter tops, dishwasher, and a full sized refrigerator with freezer. The bathroom’s oversized shower has locally quarried travertine. There is no air conditioning but two fans are provided. At 1740 feet, La Ginestra’s elevation keeps temperatures cooler in the summer. There is WIFI in the house. The house's additional amenities include a fireplace (firewood provided), CD player with iPod/iPhone direct dock, CDs, wide screen Samsung Smart TV with Sky satellite dish, washer/dryer, iron, ironing board, first-aid kit, and hair dryer. There are area maps, guidebooks and recommendations on local restaurants, museums, shopping, walking and biking trails, and sights. The house offers privacy without isolation. The closest village, a five-minute walk, is the charming medieval hill town Celle Sul Rigo, pop. 400. It has been singled out for its wine, olive oil and beauty. Celle offers dining options that range from trattorias to full scale fine dining. The village also provides a bakery, butcher shop, pharmacy, and grocery stores. There is also an Emergency Response facility with ambulance and first responder services a few blocks away. There is an outdoor bathtub with hot and cold water with a spectacular view for you to enjoy while soaking in the tub. There is no smoking allowed inside La Ginestra. The changing seasons all offer their own magic. The cottage is located on a ridge between the Val d’Orcia and the Val di Chiana, Tuscany’s evocative and most classically characteristic areas. It has a spectacular view overlooking fascinating hill towns, the occasional vineyard, pasturing sheep, olive groves and rolling hills. La Ginestra offers something for everyone. Nearby are wonderful local food and wine options ranging from simple to sublime. Dotted with Etruscan sites, the area is a treasure trove of history and art. There are excellent roads for biking and trails for horseback riding. (There’s an equestrian center minutes away.) Also there is a wonderful public swimming pool in Sarteano, 20 minutes away. Tuscany's unspoiled coastline is a 2 hour drive. Year round, the nearby villages hold festivals that include music, food, and medieval pageantry. Celle sul Rigo holds an annual Sagra dei Pici, celebrating the local hand made pasta. La Ginestra is named for the wonderfully fragrant yellow-flowered plant that perfumes the Tuscan air all summer long. The cottage sits on two and a half acres of olive and fruit trees. It produces its own olive oil from its 155 trees. It’s in a quiet and undiscovered part of Tuscany, untrammeled and off the beaten path, yet close to Tuscany’s hot spots. The cottage lies twelve miles from the ski slopes of Monte Amiata, the extinct volcano (the highest mountain in southern Tuscany), that still fuels some 40 local thermal springs. The area is famous for its lovely therapeutic spas and the villages built around them. San Casciano dei Bagni’s Fonte Verde is rated one of the top spas in Europe. San Casciano is a five-minute drive from the cottage and is one of the area’s most beautiful hill towns, an elegant village that is a mecca for artists and writers who flock to its quiet environs. It’s been acclaimed as one of the 'Borghi Più Belli d'Italia', one of the loveliest villages in Italy.
Guest accommodations at this cottage offer fireplaces and coffee/tea makers. Rooms open to patios. Accommodations offer separate living rooms. We were so grateful for our time at La Ginestra. It was beautiful, clean, modern, and quaint all at the same time. We loved the quiet, peace, and incredibly beautiful surroundings. We would absolutely go back if we're able to make a trip to Tuscany in the future!

        Tuscany Delight!

We stayed at La Ginestra for three nights and it was absolute heaven! We booked at the very last minute and Richard was so accommodating and in great communication from beginning to end. The photos are beautiful, but believe it or not, they don't capture the immense beauty of the home and surroundings. The home is so lovely and you can tell Richard has put in so much love and work into it to make his guests stay an unforgettable experience. The views are spectacular and it was so nice to sit outside, enjoy the view with some Prosecco, eat on the terrace area while enjoying the breeze, and even take in an outside bath! The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you will need to cook up a great meal. The bathroom shower is great, with plenty of hot water and there is plenty of space for all your toiletries. The bedroom has a fantastic view of the Tuscan countryside and it is just unbelievable. There aren't enough positive adjectives to describe this place and it was exactly what we needed to get away from all the tourists in Siena and Florence! The location is private, quiet, and Celle Sur Rigo and the surrounding towns are fun to explore. Each day we visited a new town, went to the thermal baths, wine tasting, and inside the various duomos. It was a quick 3 nights and we will be back to stay longer. Maurizio, the property manager, was great and also in great communication with us throughout. He met us in a neighboring town, took us to the local grocery store, made a reservation at an excellent restaurant, and had lots of great tips. Richard also has an extensive notebook at La Ginestra with tons of helpful information about the area, restaurants, hikes, vineyards, thermal baths, things to do, etc. I only wish we could have done them all! It just means we will need to go back and stay longer. Thank you for an unforgettable few days in Tuscany!

Beautiful, private, quiet... a perfect getaway

My husband and I stayed at this property during our anniversary trip and we could not have asked for a better experience. The little villa is beautiful - exactly as shown in the photos. It is clean and comfortable; although we were in Italy during a heat wave the location cooled down to a beautiful temperature at night and we never had problems sleeping. The views are astonishing. It is supremely private but so close to the little town nearby (Celle Sur Rigo), which has everything one could need and a welcoming, sleepy attitude that kept us feeling relaxed and at home. It is a great location from which to explore a myriad of hilltowns in the area. Maurizio, who showed us to the property and around the town, was incredibly friendly and helpful, providing many great suggestions on where to eat and things to do in the area. This place really feels off the beaten path and the majority of tourists we saw were Italian, giving the sense that you're seeing a part of Italy many don't ever experience. The wifi and satellite TV did not work while we were there but they were working to have that repaired. Who wants to watch TV in Italy anyway? And there was free wifi at the grocery store in town, which was easily accessible. We cannot recommend this property highly enough and will definitely be back the next time we are in Italy.

Grazie Richard and Maurizio!! Linda & Gilbert

              Grande accoglienza, bellissimo posto

Alessandro
