First the positive: this hotel is in a very quiet area not far from Kristiansand. It's great if you're on a budget and looking for something as a rest point at the beginning or end of a Norway adventure. In my case, the weather had gone bad and I was waiting on the delayed Fjord Line ferry so as to return to Denmark. My room was clean and the property is pet friendly, which was a big plus for me and my dog!
But...this is an older hotel that seems to be going through a slow renovation. There was only one person on duty during my two night stay, maybe the owner or a full-time manager. Regardless, he was very nice and helpful and resolved the couple of issues I had. There is no in-room heating; you may have to request a heater (at no cost) if the weather is cold.
In summary, if you need basic lodging, the price is right as you will often pay more for a simple no-frills bungalow or campsite elsewhere in Norway.
