I have been in the hospitality industry most of my life. The Promissory Hotel is a new hotel property built in a 9 year vacant building of an iconic old bank. I didn't know what to expect. Well, that being said, they far exceeded my expectations.
The staff are Professional, Polite, and very competent. Their style is accommodating without being overbearing. Perfect.
The new restaurant is still working out the kinks, but the latin themed food is both healthy and eclectic. They take care in the food preparation and even the coffee is fantastic and served with a genuine smile! Food is very appropriately priced.
The hotel took painstaking care to decorate in a traditional style invoking the culture of old Roanoke, with the morphing of the bank into the style. The rooms are spacious, immaculate in cleanliness, and full of upscale amenities such as soaps and shampoos from Molten Brown. The architecture kept the integrity of the old building and even the solid core doors feel like something when you shut them. The room is Very quiet.
The hotel is located one block from the square so no driving is necessary. We were able to walk to everything.
This hotel has been a pleasant surprise. We stopped as a two day quick vacation on our way home from further South, and we added a day. We will be back.
