“We had a great stay here. Located in a historic building and a stones throw from the cathedral so easy walking distance to Kirkwall attractions and easy access to roads for all parts of the island. Very friendly welcome and a tasty breakfast each morning. It is a historic building so stairs and corridors but clean and safe with a comfy bed, what more do you need? We would happily go back to Orkney and hopefully when we do we will be able to book the West End Hotel for our stay.”

“The host and hostess were very welcoming and friendly. The room was spacious and clean. Parking was in the property forecourt. The breakfast was well prepared and plentiful. The only issue was finding somewhere to dine. The local hotel could not accommodate us on the two occasions that we tried. The nearest was either Northern Sands or Castletown hotel both of which were a number of miles away.”

“Goed gelegen hotel met grote parking. Voldoende grote kamers met airco. Goede bedden. Uitgebreid ontbijt, waarbij het enige dat ontbreekt kaas en vleesbeleg is. Personeel heeft speciaal chocomelk voor de kinderen gemaakt. Diner is ook van voldoende kwaliteit voor een ketenhotel. Enige nadeel zijn de vele meeuwen op de parking en hun uitwerpselen op je auto. Vlug afwassen is de boodschap voor dat die de verf aantasten.”

“Hotel was clean and comfortable. Right next to the main road and across the street from the harbor, but the noise wasn't an issue. Not a great many choices of bars/restaurants in Kirkwall, so having a bar and restaurant in the hotel was helpful. Restaurant is very nice, though you can order in the bar as well. Wifi didn't reach the bar or our room above the bar, but the lounge had good reception. Very walkable to shops, the cathedral, and the palace/castle.”

“The sister hotel to the Shore was where we needed to check in, it is undergoing refurbishment of its facade. The Shore was clean, easy access to the city center, and meet our needs. Parking was easy and the staff went the extra mile to help us with our luggage as there is no elevator at the Shore (we knew that at the time we made our reservation)”
