We were very pleasantly surprised to learn our 1 room family suite had 2 separate bedrooms. Beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was nice. Only issues were that we only had 1 key which made it tricky every time we went separate places. Also there was an illuminated exit sign in the king bedroom we had to cover up it was so bright, and when others shut their doors it would thump ours. Loved the skylights, was a bit stuffy but those helped. Loved the breakfast!

The sister hotel to the Shore was where we needed to check in, it is undergoing refurbishment of its facade. The Shore was clean, easy access to the city center, and meet our needs. Parking was easy and the staff went the extra mile to help us with our luggage as there is no elevator at the Shore (we knew that at the time we made our reservation)

Grateful for the clean, tastefully decorated room in a great location (downtown waterfront). It's an older building so it can be a bit noisy - particularly as the patrons in other rooms come in for the evening and get going in the morning.

Pros: excellent location right in front of the ferry to the outer islands; top-notch breakfast in the main hotel, especially the porridge and chia oatmeal pots; really friendly and helpful staff available 24-7 Cons: you are staying in the annexe of the main hotel and that’s not clear from the hotel description which I know isn’t the hotels fault entirely but something to talk to Expedia about. This wouldn’t have been such a problem but upon arrival the shore building is a little worse for wear and the bar there is all closed and shuttered up. The inside of the facility had a slightly musty smell in the corridor and overall the rooms are a little tied and need sprucing up although everything was perfectly functional - the shower worked well and the bed was comfy.

The room was clean and comfortable. It needs to be made clearer in hotel advance information what the situation is. I was not aware until I arrived that the hotel I was staying in was in fact an annexe of the hotel nearby. That was a bit of a surprise. Being able to leave my luggage before and after check-in/check-out was appreciated when transport to and from the Ireland was early or overnight. Food and drink was of a high quality but rather expensive.

The ground floor is being renovated, so reception is at The Kirkwall Hotel next door. So there is investment here. That being said, hopefully the rooms and floors are next. The existing building is shabby, though my small, single room was functional at best. 5'x10', plus a small bathroom that could do with new sink fixtures. The tight shower had hot water and good water pressure. Staff next door were very helpful and welcoming. Park nerely anywhere "there's no traffic warden".

I ended up being in their other property next door- The Kirkwall Hotel- stunning-cannot give enough expletives for the room and the food at breakfast and dinner- superb
