“Perfect place to stay in the quiet and laid back village of Dounby as it is close to a lot of archeological sites which are about 10 to 20 minutes away in every direction. Very friendly and attentive staff. Great food as well. Spacious parking in the back. There is a gas station and a market across the street so you don’t have to worry about driving too far to refuel and get food. This place will be my go-to the next time I travel to Orkney Islands!”
“I booked several months ago for a week, 29/8 to 6/9. The hotel has changed hands, and there are some shocking reviews.
On arrival, there is an empty reception desk on the ground floor. A small sign indicates that reception is on the first floor. Why? I am 77 years old, but I was given room 38 on the third floor. There is no lift! So three flights of steps, good exercise. The member of staff on duty carried my case up for me.
The bathroom had a shower over the bathtub, no towel rails (towels……
