We dined in the restaurant and were very impressed with the choice offered particularly for my husband who is coeliac and has to have gluten free. Every member of staff we engaged with were so polite and friendly. Our stay was an absolute delight.”

“I was really looking forward to my stay at The Candlesticks. However as soon as I entered, I began to have my doubts. The bar area, where the owner received us, looked particularly shabby and it smelt musty. It was 3pm (an hour after checking-in should have started) and the room wasn't ready. It wasn't such a big deal, but it was another warning sign.
I was in a single room, which made a certain saying about a cat spring to mind. The bathroom was fine and the tea/coffee making facilities were...

“Typical mid-range, rural conference hotel. Archaic procedures that required you to head to the reception every single time that you wanted to use fitness facilities or pool. Correct, if not very friendly service. Overpriced, but decent restaurant (besides the pub five minutes walk away, the only dining option around here). Hotel had just reopened after holidays so Wi-Fi wasn't functioning for the first 24 hours. Blimey.”

“We stayed for a couple of nights. The room was incredibly comfortable and quiet, certainly the best night's sleep we've had in local hotels in the area.
The dinner menu is a bit limited, although the pizzas were good. They have just added cooked items to the breakfast but have a complicated charging system. Preferable just to add an extra amount to the b & b rate.
The local countryside is lovely we had a couple of walks after dinner.”

“A memorable stay for the best reasons. If any criticism, I feel the bathroom taps in our room were very difficult to turn, as they were narrow and round. Also there were no grab rails on the wall facing the bath, so for an elderly customer, the process of getting out of the bath was somewhat hazardous.
We'll come again!”
