Sunsets! Cowboy RV! Wineries, Hiking, Biking, Antiques! Julian Fall Days!
Visit Sunset Rock Ranch!!! Bring your bike, hiking sticks or equine partners for a wonderous DRY CAMPING ADVENTURE or stay in our RV! We are set up to offer an equine AirBnB experience, but you don't have to bring a horse! Ride/bike/hike or just relax. Stay in our Cowboy RV, Trailer in your own living quarters, camper or book ahead to use our two-bedroom tent. You may share some space as there are two RV/Tent sites and a total of four 12'x24' corrals. Wake up in the morning to the sounds of wildlife preparing for the day: Red-Tail Hawks screaming as they hunt for breakfast; California Quail chirruping a good morning to their clan; horses snuffling as they wait for their breakfast and the adventure to begin. The world is going into motion, so pick your favorite breakfast beverage and snack from our selection included with your stay as you soak in the tranquil beauty and stunning views of back-country Ramona. When you’ve had your fill of a relaxing morning, plan your day of riding, hiking, exploring. Our property is set near the towering Gower Mountain and beautiful Cuyamaca Reserve and Cleveland National Forest. Ride down the Nature Trail to Cedar Creek Falls and Devils Punchbowl or make it a longer day and ride to Three Sisters Falls or any of the 500+ miles of trails accessible from your corral. Choose easy fire roads, mild paths, or venture onto rugged & challenging single-tracks. You’ll find yourself meandering along under a canopy of ancient California Oaks and rustling eucalyptus trees or on hillsides spotted with sage, manzanita and scrub. This is nature, so do watch out for snakes and poison oak or a very occasional cougar alert. If you go on residential trails, be aware of moving vehicles and barking dogs. Coming soon! Outdoor shower, outdoor bathroom & wine-to! Return in the afternoon to enjoy a shower in our adorable outdoor shower and sink area. After dinner or an afternoon ride, as the horses are settled for the night, relax with after your wine tour with your wine from one of our local Ramona wineries. Sit in the barn lean-to as you watch blazing sunsets over a sweeping view of the valley below and Mount Woodson across The Valley of The Sun. As night falls, the wild turkeys will gobble their way home, and the ravens will squabble for their favorite branch, and the coyotes will start an occasional yap-fest as they teach their young ones to hunt. When darkness descends, be amazed at the skyshow of stars where light pollution is minimal. Bed down and listen to ‘country quiet’ for a great night’s rest, and start it all again the next day. Be sure to book several nights so you can experience the beauty of nature…just a few miles ‘up-the-hill’ in Ramona. With spectacular views of Mount Gower and Cleveland National Forest to the north, Cuyamaca Reserve and Cuyamaca Mountains to the east, and sparkling valley views with Mount Woodson in the distance to the west, there is no more space more beautiful than our piece of heaven here at Sunset Rock Ranch. This is a family affair with Miss Stacey watering around the property. You'll see Grandpa Bill dusting his car (for the 4th time that day) or heading into the rising morning on his motorcycle. Grandma Sandy will be sneaking your equine buddy a carrot or an apple. Miss Deborah is your hostess-with-the-mostest and manages the ranch bookings and the cute decorating touches. Mr. Tim is our all-around fix-everything man-on-the-ranch; we dream it up and he puts it into action. No horse is necessary if you are looking for the ranch experience. This is staying in our RV or DRY CAMPING! There is an outdoor toilet, and separate super cute sink and shower. Your reservation is for our two room tent (previous notification required) or your one trailer/camper/tent spot and two 12x24 corrals with shade cover. You can run an extension cord to hook into 120V for your basic trailer functions and we have hose bibs for water…bring your own ‘human consumption’ hose if you plan to use the well water for drinking. Well behaved contained doggie friends are welcome for an additional $25 per night per pet. Please plan to pick up after your pet! We will have a supply of doggy poo-poo bags and a closed trashcan for your use. Access roads are easy paved public and private roads; no dirt road potholes here! There’s plenty of flat area to turn around your goosneck, warm up your horse, and even a graded ‘round pen’ area for tighter work. Sorry, we do not have horses available for rent, but there are some rent-horse options around. Ramona can be HOT and COLD and occasionally windy...this is a country ranch experience, so please prepare accordingly. You won’t want to leave the ranch, but if you decide to explore, try golfing at San Vicente Golf Course or world-famous Mount Woodson. Go antiquing along Main Street's dozens of antique shops. Do a tour of our many local wineries here in the Valley of the Sun. Take a quick drive for Dudley’s Bread and Julian Pie. Shake some dice at Barona Casino, or do a one-hour drive and head down-the-hill to Sea World, LegoLand, San Diego Safari Park, San Diego Zoo.
