The location of this hotel near historic sites, restaurants, shops, the University of Vienna, and public transportation was what made this hotel appealing. We also liked that it was on a quiet side street. Besides that, we were very impressed with the staff, especially at the reception desk. I would also highly recommend the breakfast package, since the breakfast was fantastic.
Our only complaint was that there is no desk in the room and only one chair, which was inconvenient, since we were partly there on business and needed to work in the room.

While the hotel is older and not our usual choice, the Royal hotel is a perfect choice for the money, the location and the staff. There are also two excellent restaurants on site. Should we visit Vienna again, this is definitely where we would stay. Walk out of the hotel and you are in the center of all the action and across the street from St Stevens Church and only a 10-15 minute from the Imperial Ring and the Spanish Riding Stables (which are a must see).

Nina and Donna are excellent and location is perfect at the heart of the city but there is no air condition in the building so summer travel would be a bit uncomfortable.
I would stay there agin because of staff and location but not in the summer.
