Wildlife Retreat
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this lovely home. The home is beautiful. You are close to food, grocers, pharmacies and the pacific but ou are nestled in the mountain with spectacular views and lots of wildlife. You can hear the howler monkeys and coati passed through the yard. But the birds were the highlight. We were here during the mating season for one of native turkey varieties. The serenaded us on the second morning. We recorded them from the kitchen. Later, while sitting by the pool, we played it back and the birds came running through the yard singing and looking for their possible mate. We will definitely come back to the home again.

Winter escape
The pictures on line are not as beautiful as in person, a very unique property. We loved the house, area and being up in the mountains with the gentle breeze to keep you cool. The daily visit of birds and iguana to the house was a treat. Very clean and well maintained. Lauren, the property manager is wonderful.

Perfection
This house was built with supreme care to the surroundings and environment and you can feel the attention to detail in everything. It was a stunningly beautiful home and the property was spectacular. It was exceptionally private aside from a friendly iguana and birds who really made the stay feel special. I loved getting a visit from them every day! I intend to return and stay here - it was a beautifully relaxing experience.

Exactly as advertised.
Spectacular property. Watching sunsets from the infinity pool was the highlight of every day. It is a very steep road to Pura Uvita but well worth the drive. House is very well equipped. We never had to use the air conditioner. Our 6th trip to Costa Rica, Uvita is our favorite area.

Perfect Vacation Home
Everything was perfect, the location, the house, We had everything we needed. It was very comfortable and waking up everyday to the views and wildlife was just amazing. Loren the Manager was absolutely Great and helped us with any questions we had as well as recommendations to the area and restaurants. We had a beautiful anniversary dinner at the top of the mountain that treated us like royalty ! Andrea was Awesome and is correct they have the perfect place right there. I recommend this listing 100% to anyone that wants it all , comfort, views, pool, wildlife, and peace and privacy ! Waterfalls 2 minutes away! Just Perfect! Thank you so much!

Beautiful property
We had a lovely time. House is simple but worked perfectly for our family of 4. Basic bag of coffee and some spices were at the house, and although we've definitely experienced better staples at other properties this wasn't enough of an inconvenience to distract. Internet worked well, and pool was fantastic. We did loose electricity a few times during the stay, but generally only briefly. Loren was fantastic, arranging a poolside couples massage for us one afternoon (highly recommend!). Only thing to keep in mind: If you don't like bugs and lizards in your space, you may want to look for something else.

Absolutely beautiful
Property was beautiful. Had amazing views of the ocean. We loved the view of the ocean , the birds, the lizards, the giant chicken, like animals that scared the hell out of us ! It Had all the amenities you would want. The only negative I think would be is that in November after like 2 o’clock in the afternoon there is full sun on the back patio where we spent most of our time, and it really would’ve been nice to have some shade.

Spectacular Views
The property was gorgeous! Well stocked with things that we needed. LOVED the bedroom armoire! Beautiful bathroom. It was exactly as advertised, pool, indoor/outdoor feel with all the glass that opens up. Enjoyed the birds and other wildlife that came to visit. The people down the mountain in the pubs, etc. were exceptionally friendly. I really minded the ride up and down but I'm a wuss. You need 4x4, no joke.

You want to see this!
The villa is situated on the hilltop overlooking the whales tale. The pictures are exactly what you will see from the spectacular view of the patio. Lovely pool and really unique kitchen/living room area. Bedrooms are air conditioned for great sleeping and beds are very comfortable. Outdoor showers which are always fun. Laundry available with detergent. Kitchen is equipped with everything you need. It is a drive up a mountain but not impossible. After following Loren up the first day we had it figured out. Loren; the property manager is the best. He guided us to the best grocery store; close to the villa, and was available when we locked ourselves out. Only downside was the day we decided to just hang out and enjoy the pool the lawn crew arrived and the pool man arrived. Lawns need to be mowed and the pool needs to be taken care of so we understood but we were sure surprised. I was sitting outside in pjs when the lawn crew pulled up lol. Highly recommend. Owners reached out the day we checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit

Magical!
My husband and I stayed in this magical property and absolutely loved it! The location and house are wonderful! We adored the stunning views and all the wildlife. And Loren, the property manager, was amazing! He had all kinds of great suggestions for things to do, was super attentive to anything we needed and was just a very cool guy in general. I could not have wished for a better place to stay on our first trip to Costa Rica!

Amazing view and location
Amazing home and views. We saw a lot of wildlife from the pool deck. Spent part of each day in the pool. Close to everything. We already booked again for later this year! We never turned on the television. You MUST have a 4 wheel drive to make the drive up. We used Avis and they were very friendly and set us up with our SUV for the week. No issues!

We were hoping to check in by 2,which is what it says on the bio.But it was 4:30 before we got in there... It didnt ruin our experience as the property is amazing as is the location. The drive up the hill is a little bumpy but if you have AWD or 4x4 your good. The TV is tiny if your in the mood for a movie in the evening, which is a shame as the wall is built for a huge TV..but as a whole i would totally recommend the property. At the bottom of the hill is an amazing Vegan restaurant and a spectacular bakery..You should try both.

Great 10 day stay
Overall the stay was quite amazing. The view is fantastic and the kitchen and grill gave us plenty of food prep options. The beds were very comfortable. AC in the rooms great for a comfortable night sleep and the fans were well place in the home and outside deck so AC not required. I must say that I was skeptical about an all wheel drive not being enough and a 4x4 being necessary. Having been there now I would say the 4x4 is a must and not something to question. Parts of the way up are steep and any moisture on the road will certainly make it more than a struggle without the 4x4. All in all a great stay and the toucans regular visits admiring their reflection in the window were certainly something. Pura Vida all.

Surrounded by jungle
We loved our stay at Pura Uvita and would definitely recommend it! We saw a pair of Quetzals in the trees daily, as well as several Toucans and some gray Wood rails. Andrea and Loren were great to work with and the house was wonderful. The open layout and constant breeze through the living area were so peaceful. As they noted, 4x4 is required for the last hill up to the house, but it’s well worth it for the view!

We stayed with our 2 boys, 9 and 11 yrs old and had a great stay. We were on the go so didn't hang out a lot in the house, but when we were there it was great. Loved how the entire wall of glass in the living room opened up to the back deck. We were hoping to see more wildlife, but mostly just saw birds from the house..

Lovely Stay at Pura Vida
I don't think we could've picked a better place for our trip to stay. Gorgeous views, lovely place, abundant wildlife, and near many waterfalls. We signed up for Costa Canyoning nearby to rappel waterfalls, swam in Uvita waterfall, went to many nearby beaches and local restaurants which were delicious. Only rained most of 2 days. Was perfect for us! We highly recommend and will stay again if we come back! Mucha gracias!

Wonderful stay for us! The description is spot on, and do get a 4 wheel drive vehicle!
Lovely property and well thought out. Wonderful view that makes you want to stay there, but we like to explore. Visited during the rainy season but didn't let it stop us. Recommend a trip to Nacayau Waterfalls, Whales Tail & surrounding beaches. We mostly ate at the local sodas like Ticos. Loren was helpful, but he probably thought we left because we really didn't need to contact him after the great welcome & information. You will definitely need 4-wheel drive, we had visited some of the most remote areas in Cosa Rica & didn't need it, but when they say it is on on a mountain, believe them because it is a dirt road. Thanks for letting us enjoy the beautiful property!!

Amazing experience!
Pura Uvita was an amazing experience for our family of four! The home sits on top of a mountain overlooking Uvita and the Whale's Tail. Waking up to that view every morning was truly special. During our stay we saw numerous agouti, a coati, numerous toucans, and several other bird species. The home is well appointed and includes everything you need for your stay. The property manager, Loren, is a super nice guy and was always available anytime we had a question. We would highly recommend staying at Pura Uvita if you want to give your family a once in a lifetime experience.

Wonderful stay with an amazing view
Our family of four stayed for four nights in this wonderful place. We really enjoyed the house, the atmosphere, the view - just everything. It was one of our favorite places we stayed in during our round trip through Costa Rica. The place is clean, spacious and has everything one needs for a holiday house. We were able to spot many animals around the house (coati, agouti, lizards, tucans and many other birds). It is just so relaxing to sit outside and just enjoy this fantastic surrounding - even when it is raining. The pool is definitely a plus, too! Andrea is really nice and responded quickly. In Uvita Loren takes care of everything. He was really great, met us when we arrived in town an guided us to the house. Be aware that the advice to have a 4x4 should be taken seriously. Loren explained everything to us and answered every question during our stay. Thanks to him again! If we come back to Costa Rica, we would definitely love to return to this place!

Amazing view
The house was fantastic. It is perched high above Uvita. We have stayed in houses before in Costa Rica where the listing said that being in the hills would keep it cool and we would not need AC and it almost always turns out to still be really hot. But, Pura Uvita was always very comfortable despite it being blazing hot on the beach. My kids loved the pool. The house is a great set up for two couples or a small family like ours (2 kids and 2 adults). We loved the outdoor space and loved how the indoor area flowed into the pool area outside. The dirt road up to the house was a little scary the first time, but we got used to it pretty easily. I imagine it might be a tougher drive in the rainy season, but it was not too bad for us. You definitely need a 4x4. The best part of the house was the view. We picked this area because we wanted to see Corcovado National Park which we would highly recomend. If we are everr back in the area, we would definitely stay here again.

We found this property through friends of our that have a home in the Uvita area, which was rented during the tile of our trip. They suggested Pura Uvita and we could not have been more pleased. We were so engrossed in our fun activities up to the last moments that we forgot to write in the guest book. We plan to return in a few months and hope to stay once again at Pura Uvita when we will enter our thoughts in the book officially. Nice, well equipped home with an incredible view. The kids absolutely loved the pool. The kitchen was well stocked and we prepared a lot of our meals there. The bugs were a little annoying but to be expected because of the location which was fantastic! Tip: Keep all of your food in the fridge. Loren the host was a gem. He met us the evening of our arrival in town and showed us the way to the home. Loren was very knowledgeable about the area and even set up our appts for our COVID re entry tests. Also booked our river cruise excursion and zip lining tour, both amazing! He proved to be a very good resource. Even though it is the rainy season the weather cooperated quite nicely. We would wake up with the sunshine and that incredible view then it would start to cloud up in the afternoons with rain late afternoon evenings. We were treated to pretty awesome thunder and lightening storms. And boy it can rain in Costa Rica. Thats what makes it so green, lush, and beautiful. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.

Awesome stay in the “Jungle” 😁
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Pura Vida. The view and sunsets are second to none! Layout of home is perfect for two couples, with basically two master suites. Loren, the property manager, was a wealth of information and very helpful. Bugs were a little annoying, but that’s to be expected considering location. Road up the mountain was a little treacherous with our non 4x4 vehicle (that’s a whole other story about the rental car company), but we managed. All in all, we had a fantastic time, and would highly recommend this property! 🌞😎

How nice it could be ...
The location and the view: Actually 5 stars. The equipment is - for a house just three years old - surprisingly worn out, but that doesn´t matter so much (4 stars). We stayed for 18 days in February - and we have had bad luck: There are big construction sites right beside the house, with lots of noise, beginning at 5:30 am. As we have planned explicitly recreation holidays in the rainforest, coming all the way from Europe, this could not work for us, despite the beauty of the land, the friendliness of the Ticos and the wonderful nature (where it isn´t cleared). If you plan to stay outdoors the whole day, it could be very nice for you. If not, it´s better to look elsewhere as long as the construction works continue. I´m sure, the owners are meanwhile ready to give you applicable informations about the situation regarding the constructions.

Truly special house that exceeded our expectations!
Our family was fortunate to stay in this beautiful house for two weeks over the holidays. This was our first trip to Costa Rica and without a doubt we couldn’t imagine any place being more perfect. It exceeded our expectations and they were pretty lofty as this trip was a year in the making. Andrea was always so quick to communicate and lovely to work with. Loren was such a blessing when trying to figure out what activities to do, booking them and just an all out awesome person. We have been gushing about this place since we’ve been home and certainly hope we can make it back.

Beautiful setting!
Perfect house with the open concept and views of the ocean. Loren was great and so helpful! There is still construction going on next door during the day, but we were out and about most of the time so it wasn't too bad. We weren't able to watch anything through the actually TV, but there was an HDMI cable and we could watch Netflix through our laptop. If you want to watch TV, I would suggest maybe bringing an Apple TV or Fire Stick. Best places to eat - Los Laureles and Sabor Espanol were our favorites, definitely make a reservation. ATV tour, Cano Island Snorkeling and Osa Canopy ziplining are a must!

The photos and description of the property are extremely accurate.
Staying in Uvita was the best part of our vacation. The home was perfect for our family of five. The views, pool and surrounding nature were highlights. The location of the market and activities worked wonderfully. The house is equipped with everything you need--cooking, showering, beach towels--nice details. We enjoyed an RTV tour through the jungle including a tour of a local coffee plantation. Our day at the beach visiting the "whale's tail" was a highlight. Thank you to Loren for making himself available to questions and making suggestions. Only negative comment was the new building on the hill around this beautiful location--construction starts at 6am. We respected--and enjoyed your beautiful home.

Beautiful modern home in amazing location
We had a great time the week we stayed here. The home construction and indoor/outdoor concept was very cool. If you enjoy wildlife this is a great spot - toucans every day, the occasional monkey, and the highlight for us was seeing an anteater chomping away in an ants nest. We would go out every evening and walk around the property with flashlights and find all kinds of crazy reptiles and insects. The view, pool, and patio is great. The kitchen and outdoor grill worked great for cooking. The kitchen is well equipped and even had a coffee grinder! (The knives could use some sharpening or be replaced). Property manager Loren was also very helpful and professional. The only complaint I could air is that some may find the mattresses uncomfortable. Personally they didn't bother me but my wife did not like them. And if this wasn't already obvious being inside/outside concept, if you are scared of insects then this might not be what you want. Overall we loved it.

We really enjoyed our stay. It’s always great to have a kitchen (which was pretty well stocked), washer and dryer, plenty of towels and beach towels. The indoor outdoor shower was really cool. We really loved the view, Monkeys, Tuscans, birds etc. Some unwanted bugs but it’s Costa Rica. Loren was very helpful and very responsive. The ride up the hill isn’t too bad but 4 wheel drive is definitely needed. Loren will meet you on arrival and show you the way however, I purchased an international phone plan through Verizon and google maps knew the way!

Beautiful Home with great ocean view!
Spent a week at this beautiful home for Christmas (wife and I w/ 4 kids). It has incredible views of the ocean and the setting is tranquil with no noisy neighbors and lots of privacy. We enjoyed hanging out in the covered deck by the pool, reading, sleeping & just relaxing. Uvita is just 8 minutes down the road close to the BM (supermarket) and restaurants. Make sure to rent a 4x4 as the road is a bit steep getting to the house, but not bad at all and it was really fun exploring the area, including Uivta Falls just 4 minutes from the home. Loved the big island counter for preparing & eating together. Kids loved the outdoor showers and watching netflix on the TV at night. Good wifi. Also, Loren, the property manager was fantastic and met us right on time at the meeting place on the 1st day of our vacation. He lives close by and was always available if we needed anything during our stay. House had great ventilation w/ the open doors to the ocean view and we rarely used the AC (not needed but nice to have in case it gets warm). We cooked a few nights and went out to eat the others. Favorite restaurants in the area are Sibu, Roadshack Deli for lunch, Sabor Espanol, Por Que No and Los Laurales (great fish tacos). Also enjoyed day trips to Manuel Antonio (hour away) and Nayuca Waterfalls (30 minutes away) and mornings at the beach surfing (Playa Colonia 15 minutes away)--rent surfboards at Flutterby House. Highly recommended house to rent!

Beautiful Property
Beautiful home found in the mountains above Uvita. Each bedroom has an ocean view and full bathroom. Showing outdoors was great. A/C worked well in the bedrooms, and wasn't really needed in the living room and kitchen area. The house is designed to maximize airflow and cooler mountain temps. Pools was lovely. We cooked most nights after getting fresh meat and produce at the base on the mountain from BM grocery. Owner checked up on us to make sure everything was okay. Loren, who took us to the house, was available if needed. Being our fifth trip to Costa Rica, we were there to relax. While out the house, spent many nights listening to Toucans serenade us at sunset. There is a troop of Capuchin monkeys that comes through each afternoon, quite close. Saw Howler monkeys from a distance, and of course, heard them. We also saw a pair of Great Curassows (male and female) walking the property. Our greatest thrill was seeing a Boa Constrictor. While walking away from the laundry room/shed, one was moving back toward the forest. It was about 6 feet, and wanted nothing to do with the two idiots taking pictures w/ cell phones! Would definitely recommend!

Amazing house in an amazing area
We loved our trip. The house was perfect. Very private and relaxing. Saw monkeys, toucans in AM. Loren was a huge help. Overall top notch experience and can't wait to return

Amazing property that won't disappoint!
My family of 4 (two boys ages 6 and 9) have just returned from 3 weeks in this property and loved every minute of our stay. The house is simple yet complete with everything we needed. It feels like a very sleek tree house, nestled into the mountainside. It is indoor/outdoor living at its best with every room having large glass sliding doors that open to the breezes coming up off the water. We were there in the Green Season so after a 3-4 day rain respite at the beginning, we had showers most afternoons or evenings. They were great reminders to take naps or turn in early to the sound of the rain. Many mornings we awoke to the howler monkeys and most evenings we went to sleep to the croaking frogs. The showers are private but have an open ceiling so even showering is an experience. The pool was a great size for swimming with ledges for sitting and relaxing poolside. The water was cool due to the cooler temps up on the hill. The house manager Loren is absolutely wonderful. He is a kind, gentle soul and, like all great superheroes, has a trusty sidekick named Bita. An adorable white pup who my kids adored. He was a fabulous resource for restaurant and excursion suggestions, questions and concerns during our stay. He and his wife even invited us down to his beautiful home to show us his banana trees, sugar cane and other indigenous flora. As most before have shared, a 4x4 is a necessity for this property and the car is important for everyday excursions to the beaches, nearby towns and waterfalls. The house is about a 10 minute drive up the hill from the town and beaches but the drive up and down was an adventure in its own right -passing waterfalls, monkeys and iguana perching in trees. There was no shortage of creatures, great and small and one should expect (and appreciate) nature inside and outside the home at times. It reminded us that we are mere visitors and charged with protecting this great gift of a planet we have. Many thanks to Andrea for all her correspondence with me prior to our visit. We began communicating with her back in the fall and she responded the same day every time - within minutes most of the time! Her warmth and her generosity with information was why we selected this property but the property itself will call us back. Beautiful house in a perfect location
The house is beautiful with a postcard view. A peaceful location. House is well equipped for a perfect restful vacation.
