WATERFRONT SOLAR-POWERED COTTAGE ON CATHANCE LAKE

This is a well built 2 bedroom, 1 bath cottage that was just completed in 2018. It sits on a 5 acre lot with 670' of frontage on Cathance Lake. . We are off the grid in a gated community on the east side of pristine Cathance Lake. The location is very peaceful with beautiful sunsets and a wonderful onshore breeze, accounting for the name of the home, THE BREEZEWAY. There is no traffic noise at this location with the exception of an occasional boat going by. There are neighbors in the area but they are spread out on large lots so you may not see them. You're more likely to see and hear the wildlife which might include deer, moose, owls, eagles and loons.

We're well off the beaten path. The nearest shopping center is in Calais which is about 20 miles away. so you want to bring plenty of food and drinks when you arrive.

The cottage is heated with a wood burning stove. Wood and kindling for the stove are provided. Electricity is provided by solar panels. We have a bank of batteries for power storage and also an automatic backup generator. in case demand exceeds supply but it seldom comes on. Electricity powers the lights and water pump. The refrigerator, stove and hot water heater are fueled by propane. We generally get good cell phone reception. Bed linens and towels are provided so all you have to bring is food and drinks.

Smoking is not allowed and parties are not allowed . There are 2 bedrooms, 1 full bath, kitchen, dining area, living room and a wrap around screened in porch. Maximum capacity is 4 people and 2 dogs. Dogs stay for free.

Stay in Cooper
We absolutely loved our stay here. Don and Rebecca are wonderful hosts! We arrived to homemade blueberry muffins, which were delicious. The house is spacious, clean, and comfortable. We brought our pup along and she had a blast swimming right off the dock in the crystal clear water. We took the boat out a few times and had fun fishing for smallmouth bass. The screened-in, wrap-around porch is perfect for sitting in and listening to the loons call on the lake during the evening. We had one awful weather day when Hurricane Lee hit, during which we spent the day inside playing games and reading the books that Don and Rebecca had stocked in the cabin. This is the perfect place to travel off the beaten path, unwind and relax, and spend quality time with loved ones. We’re looking forward to returning next year!

Family Getaway
We had a fabulous time, my spouse and I, our 12yo and our 2 dogs! The “Breezeway” wrap around porch is spectacular. When the doors to the house are left open the most magnificent breeze goes throughout. The hummingbird visited daily and the sounds of owls, loons and coyotes sang nightly songs. We fished, swam and used the provided canoe. The only thing I could say for improvements is self imposed as our stay was too short. Thank you Don and Rebecca for the most wonderful time and the delicious blueberry muffins.

Perfect get away
Great place to go to get off the beaten path. House has everything you need. Beautiful sunsets and excellent smallmouth bass fishing. Don was excellent host. You won’t see many people on the lake. We had it all to ourselves when we went out in canoe that’s provided. We will be back. Caught so many fish right off the dock. Don’t hesitate to book it. You will love it

My favorite place in Maine 🌲
My husband and two GSP’s traveled here for 5 nights . It was absolutely amazing. The house was clean and cozy and had all the items we needed to feel like home. We brought our boat and was able to utilize the dock as well. We caught SO many small mouth — and the dogs loved swimming in the lake all day. We had beautiful weather and that porch was the highlight of our trip. We hung out there all day and night .Don was so nice and met us upon arrival (even after running about an hour late due to traffic) .thank you Don! Even got to meet his pup too! We will most definitely be coming back next year— we want to make this lake a new summer tradition for our family. We also traveled to Lubec for the day— what a great little town with a great brewery and amazing lobster. I cannot recommend this house enough! Go if you have the chance! Thanks for having us!!

Cathance Lake Bliss
We had a perfect getaway at this sweet sweet cabin. The quiet peaceful location was a dream. The cabin had a great lay-out with an amazing wrap-around screened-in porch. We enjoyed swimming and paddleboarding on the beautiful lake; walking, jogging, and biking on the surrounding gravel roads; and relaxing, chatting, reading on the porch. We took a couple of short day trips to hike the Cutler Bold Coast and Quoddy Head State Park, and had a delicious dinner at Water Street Tavern in Lubec. We spied an owl, two moose, three loons, and of course the hummingbirds! We hope to return to explore the Moosehorn Wildlife Refuge and the many other preserves in the area. It was fantastic to have our beloved dog along with us, who enjoyed endless hours of swimming and fishing. Thank you Don and Rebecca for sharing such a lovely place.

Great Off the Grid Stay
Despite the iffy weather, this was a great place to stay! We spend a lot of time in the canoe and fishing off the dock, catching loads of small mouth bass. The sun did peek out a few times for us. The covered porch was a lovely spot to sit and read during the rainy days. And the hummingbird feeder provided me with so much entertainment during our visit. Thanks Don and Rebecca!

This was a last-minute, spur-of-the-moment decision to get away to Downeast Maine for a few days. We couldn't be happier. Don and Rebecca were gracious hosts. Blueberry muffins upon arrival. The canoe ride in the cove was great. Swimming in the lake was refreshing. The sunsets were awesome. The cottage was very private. We listened to the loons at night. We toured Quoddy Point lighthouse, Lubec and Campobello Island. Had excellent seafood at The Happy Clam in Eastport. Being a dog-friendly cottage was a plus. We hope to come back sometime soon.

AMAZING LOCATION
This cabin was EXACTLY what we needed to BREAK FREE from our stresses and spend time TOGETHER. This was our FIRST time staying OFF-GRID. The solar panels provided PLENTY of POWER during our stay. We had HOT SHOWERS. The remoteness of the cabin allowed us to see the most beautiful stars in the sky, great sunsets and allowed us to BREAK FREE from our busy lives. This cabin was CLEAN, the owner was very attentive to our needs before and during our stay. We were close to civilization if needed but in 5 days only seen an occasional boat passing by.
