Overnight Stay
Quick business stay. The room accommodations and view were amazing. I noted there was a restaurant on site but was disappointed that it was not open during my stay. I had to drive quite a distance to find a restaurant. If I had known it was closed during my stay I would have prepared or stayed somewhere else.

Pleasant stay on Lake Mille Lacs!
Such a pleasant stay on Lake Mille Lacs! We were in town for a wedding, and I wish we could have spent more time taking advantage of the amenities, like the beautiful beach. The property was quiet, family friendly, and clean.

Appledoorn's Sunset Bay Resort
The resort is a well laid out family resort. Our getaway took place during covid-19 and was very private and relaxing. The quad hotel we stayed in was beautiful, spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. We are looking forward to returning in summer to enjoy all the fun resort activities!

Restaurant was always closed
This place was nice but one issue we had was that we could never go to the restaurant and eat. There was a wedding so the restaurant was closes for dinner. We asked if they wohld be open in the morning, we were told yes, but then we got there at 9am and it was closed. Just disappointing that we picked to stay here for the convenience and ended up having to go elsewhere to eat. I just wish that they would treat the guests the same as the wedding party.

Thank you for your review Kristine. I'm sorry to hear that you didn't have the best experience with our restaurant over the weekend. We truly apologize for the inconvenience. We did have to close food service to the restaurant for 2 hours from 5-7 on Saturday so our kitchen staff could cook and serve for the wedding. We tried our best to post signs at the front desk and in the restaurant to make everyone aware of the couple hour delay in service we would be having. Completely out of our control for the weekend was the bad storm that hit Friday night and took out our power for almost 12 hours. We had to make the call to close for breakfast on Saturday as our power did not come back on until around 7:30 am, and we needed to make sure we had proper time to clean the kitchen & restaurant and prepare for the day as we weren't able to the night before after the storm shut us down. We hope you'll give us another try in the future! Thanks again -

The place was great. I cannot wait to return. Lake is awesome, the grounds are well maintained. Staff were friendly and helpful. Mattress on bed is ready to be replaced. Other than that excellent. Quiet in the evenings. Our A/C went out and the manager and staff was more than accommodating.

Great family resort! Quad rooms are a nice option for large groups who want to keep social distancing. Water equipment is a nice bonus; kids really enjoyed kayaking and pedal boats. Nice beach. We will be back!

Cabins are beautiful! Plows not helpful
The cabin was beautiful. I had a quad section and it was really cozy and clean. Id recommend a few floor mats in the winter since we were trudging in snow. Checked in early no problem and didnt have to check out in person which worked cause I was fishing. The snow plow driver was less than helpful. I asked if he could clear me a short path to where I was fishing and he said he couldnt because it was someone elses property - even though it was between a row of Appledoorn Cabins east of it and a whole city and plowed roads of appledoorn cabins west of it. Somehow though it was not their property? Also being the middle of a public lake. Cant help but think he was being lazy and blamed turf wars to not do it. Cabins were great!! Ill go back for that. However, doubt ill go out of their launch again. On top of that - I didnt catch anything - and went where they recommended.

Great Spot
Very nice family based resort but having a boat was kind of a pain. The bay is very shallow and you need the resort to use a tractor to launch your boat. The docks were nice with adequate bumpers and others left large boats tied up overnight. Sunset Bay is secluded from the main lake and is a great location. There was somewhat limited space for parking boats, trailers and large vehicles. It is a pretty large resort with nice green grass areas and modern cabins. We chose to launch at a public landing one mile away. Charging the boat batteries was a chore as their boat trailer area had limited plug ins and the ones we parked by didn't work at all. The restaurant had some of the best lakeside food we have come across. The beach area is awesome with lots of toys for kids and sand beaches this nice can be hard to come by, especially on Mille Lacs.

Our lake view room was so nice and clean. It had a gorgeous view of the lake and the sunsets were beautiful to watch from our balcony! The food was good and the staff were great people to talk to and get to know! We will be returning for sure.

Peaceful, well-kept, friendly
Appledoorn's Resort was very quiet and peaceful. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and the whole resort was very well-kept. It looks like they do a lot of upkeep and our room seemed to be freshly painted. Would definitely recommend - even for a winter stay, as they rent out fish houses too!
