Great place to stay for visiting Yosemite
My husband, our dog, and I stayed at this property for our trip to Yosemite. It was conveniently located (~1 hour to the park and ~15 minutes to Mariposa) with a lot of amenities! We really enjoyed our time here and thank John for the hospitality.

Property is in very great condition. It has EV charging so if you are traveling with Teslas then you can get it charged too. Plenty of room is available for kids to play. Downtown is not that far; it's drivable distance. Same is for Yosemite too. Only problem we had was early checkout. 10am checkout is just too early especially if you are traveling with kids. Otherwise everything is great. Make sure that you have access code for the property before you reach the property. We had no cellular connection so had to contact neighbors to help us call owner. Verizon has connectivity (T Mobile doesn't. Not sure about Att).

Nice place about an hour from yosemite
This is a big spacious property with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The layout was great with all the bedrooms on 1 side and kitchen/washer/dryer on the other and the living dining in the middle. There is also a nice gazebo outside. We used the functional fireplace that was well stocked with wood starters just for kicks in addition to the sufficient gas/electric heating. We had some issues with the hot water initially running brown. This was also the case for the bathroom sinks and showers as well but they ran clear after running for a few minutes. The mattress though comfortable did not have great motion isolation. If you are not using a mattress, I would recommend sleeping separately for light sleepers. The floor wasn't super clean but we carried slippers so did not have any issues. The living room has an elaborate audio setup with 4 ceiling speakers in addition to main channel and subwoofer. The kitchen had all the essentials and we cooked our meals with ingredients that we carried with us. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend if you are looking for a nice secluded stay close to the park.

Nice house
We enjoyed our stay. The layout of the house was great for hanging out with friends for a long rainy weekend over New Years. We were plenty warm and cozy during the big storms. Nice neighborhood out in the country but close enough to town. Nothing fancy, but plenty comfortable!

Delightful stay for Yosemite
John is a great and responsive host. His home is in a wonderful location, the property is beautiful, and the home is even better than the photos. We had everything we needed and more. It was easy to get to and from Yosemite and we made daily trips there. The gas station and markets were close by. We were able to get groceries easily and prepare big meals at home for six adults in the well-stocked kitchen. The place was clean and roomy. The beds were comfortable. The bathrooms were nice, with good shower water pressure. We enjoyed the open floor plan. The grill and fireplace worked very well. We were able to be settled in and comfortable as soon as we arrived and enjoyed every moment there. Since the house was so great, we were able to make even more sweet memories with our family and friends. There are so many other great things about this home. We would definitely come back. A nice house close to Yosemite NP
We choose Valley Oak because of its close proximity to Yosemite National Park. Three days before our stay the Oak Fire started. John provided concise and timely information. We are very pleased that we did not change our plan. The house is exactly as John and many other guests described. Three rooms are very comfy for our family. Despite some smoke and extra driving for the detours, we had a great time in and around the house and the park.

Great place to stay when visiting Yosemite
The property is large enough to host two families with kids. The house included hair dryers, soap, shampoo, conditioner and plenty of towels. The sofa and beds were so comfortable that we all got a good night of rest. The house is 15 mins away from Pioneer Supermarket where could can find everything you need, while Yosemite National Park is about 1 hr away.

요세미티 공원에서 1시간거리입니다. 한적한 곳에 위치해서 조용합니다. 방과 침구류도 깨끗하구요. 식기와 양념류등이 다 준비되있습니다. 샤워할때 물의 수압이 좀 약한 편입니다. 바닥이 깨끗하긴 하지만 맨발로 다니기보다는 기내용 슬리퍼 정도준비하면 좋을 것 같아요.

Memories for life!
We had never been to this area or Yosemite and John was nice to answer all my questions. We love your property. I even talked about getting a property like this one when retire haha! My friend Liz got the bedroom with the sleep number bed. My only complaint is that I didn't get that room before her. I got the mater bedroom which had its own bathroom! We are looking forward to staying here again! Thank you for providing a lovely place ❤️

100% accurate as advertised, immaculately clean, fully-stocked kitchen with high-end pots/pans & gadgets, check-in/check-out is effortless, short driving distance to the Yosemite entrance. John's property is located in a very secluded, nicely maintained and quiet neighborhood. We spent most of our time in the backyard, enjoyed the scenery and serenity of the 5 acre property. We walked around the cul-de-sac and past the one-car bridge. Very welcoming neighbors acknowledged us with a wave. John was nice enough to complement our stay with Mariposa coffee. He also provided us with luxurious linens and towels. We really have nothing negative to say but the best vacation rental by owner we have ever been. The only regret we have is we did not stay long enough. If there is something small I can suggest for you to add (but you don't need to) to your home, is something small for pets since you allow pets (dogs for us), maybe hooks for the leash and/or bowl mats. John is also very responsive when you contact him or have a question for him. He responds immediately. We will recommend John and his Valley Oaks Vacation rental to our family and friends and will surely use again when we are back in town.

Amazing home and property!
John was very communicative during our stay and the home is just as beautiful and comfortable as the listing. There was a power outage dying our stay but the generator kicked in until the power came back on. Very important when it’s 30+ degrees outside. Thanks John for our stay and we hope to return in the near future.

Great for families
We had a great time staying at valley oak vacations for Thanks giving. Home was clean, with a large surrounding yard for kids and pets to run around and play and family to stroll. Short drive to Yosemite NP. Well-equipped kitchen. The gazebo and picnic table outside make for memorable mealtimes. Checkin and checkout was a breeze. John is very responsive in case you need anything during your stay...

Everything you need
My family and dogs were so happy here. It was clean, comfortable, with fast internet, wide open space, ample parking, well equipped kitchen & kitchenware including spices, & cleaning supplies; you name it they have it. We arrived late and the house had been kept warm. The bathrooms contained soap, shampoo and clean towels. The (3) queen beds were comfortable and each room had USB plugs. All in all, I would book this again. The only complaint was the vacation was too short.

Spacious home with well-equipped kitchen
My mom, a friend, and I stayed at this house when we visited Yosemite. The house is lovely - plenty of space inside and several eating areas out back on the patio. It was very clean and the kitchen had everything you'd need for cooking or baking. The owner answered all my questions quickly. The house is about an hour away from Yosemite and 15 minutes away from town. It's a great location and a wonderful house. We'd recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Loved our get away

Great house near Yosemite
We stayed at John's home while we were visiting Yosemite and it was great for our group of six. The living area and kitchen were spacious and all the appliances were new. We also loved the outdoor space in the evenings. The home was clean and communication with John was easy! Would definitely stay again!

Nice Stay
The property was as described. Only disappointment was the lawn. Photos show green grass and with a June stay everything was fairly dead due to sun and no rain. To be expected but still a little disappointing. Overall a very nice and comfortable stay. We brought extra towels as reading reviews indicated towels for 4 people only. I did however wish there were check out instructions at the house. Without specifics, it was a little difficult to determine our responsibilities at check out. And there were no garbage bags on site. So we grabbed our own in an effort to not overload the trash. Also to note, there was no cellular connections and the wifi would periodically drop. Definitely the place to go if you’d like to disconnect for a bit. My only complaint would be that the property indicates pet friendly but further digging says you must get approval. My sister did bring her dog after I got approval. But then I got charged a fee on the backend for dog fur. A little confused by that. Other than that no complaints. Thanks for the stay John!

Wonderful stay near Yosemite
The owner was very responsive to our questions and easy to work with. The home was wonderful at a reasonable price and could easily handle a larger family. We enjoyed being a little further from the main vacation hubs of Mariposa and Oakhurst, with fairly short drives to either town and both Arch Rock and South entrances nearby. Hope to stay there again!

A cozy and comfortable stay
We had a really good experience overall at our stay. The house was spacious, well maintained, cozy and comfortable. We specially enjoyed spending time in the patio. We felt the location was remote and there weren’t any neighbors in sight. The only setback is there was no cellphone reception, although landlines were provided.

Fantastic property for peaceful weekend near nature
The location was what we were looking for — something clean, spacious, quiet, and remote. It was enough space for 5 people to very comfortably spend a weekend. It’s about 1.5hr driving distance to Yosemite so perfect for a day trip. Very close to Mariposa — decent dining options. Also very easy to find. Bonus points for DVD selection.

Beautiful Property
The home was beautiful, well appointed, cozy and comfortable both inside and out. We enjoyed the beauty and peacefulness of the surrounding area. Turkeys strolled through the yard in the mornings so enjoyable with our morning coffee. We took a different route to Yosemite through Mid Pine and El Portal.due to the house location and the views of the Merced River were phenomenal. We would definitely stay there again!

Relaxing getaway
John takes great care of guests, great hospitality. He really caters to your preference on his breakfast menu. His home is spotless, bed was extremely comfortable. We are saddened that he will soon close his doors for bed and breakfast. Mariposa is truly a hidden gem and John runs a great property for tourists and valley guests. He plans to soon offer his property as a vacation rental we hope to visit again soon.
