See endangered species or enjoy breakfast with orangutans at Singapore’s famous zoo.

Since its humble beginnings in 1973, the zoo has expanded and modernized and is now one of the most respected zoos in Asia. With more than 2,800 animals from over 300 different species, the Singapore Zoo has been lauded for its natural exhibits that give the appearance of being barrier free. The zoo has won many awards and is one of the most popular attractions in the city, offering hours of entertainment for all ages.

Rise early to get to the zoo in time for the zoo’s Jungle Breakfast with Wildlife program, the only one of its kind in the world. Enjoy a buffet breakfast in the company of orangutans, as the free-ranging animals begin their day.

Singapore Zoo is known for its interactive exhibits, with many unique experiences to discover. Ride on the back of an elephant in the rainforest zone or feed kangaroos by hand in the Australian Outback exhibit. Don't miss the white tigers, the proboscis monkeys and the pigmy hippos. There is even a polar bear in its own tundra habitat in the middle of tropical Singapore. The zoo has a special focus on primates. Wander through the primate zone and be entertained by the antics of monkeys of all shapes and sizes.

Relax as the kids enjoy themselves at Kidzworld, the zoo’s educational and recreational zone for children. Here they can meet animals and learn facts from the zoo staff. The fun goes on past dusk when the zoo offers a night safari featuring nocturnal animals.

As you wander the zoo, enjoy the stunning gardens which feature dozens of varieties of orchids, gingers and heliconia plants which all flower spectacularly. Keep your eye out for the free-roaming monkeys which inhabit the trees throughout the zoo.

The Singapore Zoo is located approximately 30 minutes from downtown Singapore by car. There is parking available at the zoo for a fee. Visitors arriving by public transportation can reach the zoo via the North-South MRT line with a connecting bus to the zoo. The Singapore Zoo is open daily and there is a modest fee for entry.

Great place, saw lots of animals pretty close up. Got to feed the elephants and giraffe for $5 singapore dollars each per person. It did rain terribly when we were at the zoo. Zoo offered complimentary entrance to the River Safari which was great. Zoo was worth the entrance tree, River Safari is not worth paying for.

This is my 6th visit to the zoo, but I feel that recently small animals do not appear as it used to be. I wish people from THE big economically fast growing countries would keep their voice down and appreciate the animals.

Amazing Zoo, the moneys will swing on trees above your head (no cages for some animals). We fed elephants and giraffes, it was so exciting- (but line-up early for morning feeding times, and make sure you have cash- cost $5 Singapore dollars for feeding)
